It is very likely that DS has them, it was going round at daycare not so long ago... This morning he has not been himself.

In the last couple of hours i have noticed red spots here and there.... and more coming up... anyone know how fast they come up?

Im still hoping its not them!

About 6 to 21 days :/

Here is a copy/paste for some info on preventing scarring in case he does have them

To help prevent scarring from the spots:

    * Dress your child in lightweight pyjamas or clothing.
    * Clip your child's fingernails as closely as you can.
    * Try putting mittens on the hands of very young children.
    * Try 20-minute baths, three times a day, with baking soda or an oatmeal type bath product in lukewarm water.
    * Change your child's clothes and bed sheets daily.
    * Apply a soothing lotion such as Calomine LotionTM.
    * If your child is fidgety and wants to scratch the spots, your doctor may suggest an anti-itch medicine.

the early ones usually (but not always) pop up under arms and on the tummy so keep an eye out for that. once the spots start appearing the rest normally come up within 3 - 7 days then start fading

5 of us currently have the pox! They start as little red dots, they come up over a few days. starting usually on the trunk spreading to arms and legs. Go to the doctor straight away if they appear on or close to the eye area. Don't use calamine apparently it dries them too much and causes scarring. you can get a tea tree antiseptic cream $10 from the pharmacy which will relieve the itch and help them heal. Bath in pinetarsel (sp) will also help the itch (make sure you rinse it off well) once the pus has come out and they are dry he can go back to daycare :) Thats what we've been told anyway

Mine started coming up this morning I now have about 10 but my DD only has 3 but you'll definately know tomorrow or the next day! Good luck!
