softening shoes?
I have picked up a couple of ballet flats for my daughter (cheap ones) but they are really stiff and give her blisters after about 30 minutes of wearing them. They are painful to wear because they are so stiff.
I have heard of dunking them in water or something, but im not sure...
Anyone have any ideas?

You could try putting wet paper towels or newspaper in them to stretch them a bit, but that is normally for leather shoes.
Also saw on the net someone mention using vaseline or rubbing a bar of soap on the backs of them where they cause the blisters.
Can you get your DD to wear a couple of pairs of socks with them on to stretch them a little?

I would have thought dunking them in water would make them tougher. How about stuffing them with paper then pounding them with a hammer?

I'm about to throw Alia's ballet shoes through the wash, will let you know how they go? Others have done it by accident & it's cleaned them up beautifully.

Bang them with a hammer or other heavy object, jump up and down on them and yes I believe the water trick works also.

My step daughter does ballet and she bangs them against the wall lots to soften them up. Her friends run over them in a car! Apparently it works.
