Can anyone please recommend a counsellor in Wellingto?
Its a long and complicated story, but my husband has some issues at the moment and he really needs to talk to someone other than me about them. When he should be at his happiest with a new baby and wife that loves him, he feels lost and empty.
Any suggestions would be great as I want to do whatever I can to help him so we can have our happy family back again.
thanks

sorry - no real suggestions, but didn't want to just read and run

Does his work place provide anything like this? I know mine does . . .

he says he is going to ask at work if they can access anything for him. Hopefully, as I am feeling lost without him..he has gone to stay with a friend for a few days to try and get some clarity back....

i think a lot of work places do provide something ( i guess they think it is better than having time off on the stress . . . )

Is he a member of a Union - they also provide these services

Hope everything works out for you all

Hey there

I don't live in Welly, so don't know any counsellors, but thought I'd post to give you a hug. This must be a really tough time for you guys.

wellymummy, sorry DH is having a hard time, I don't know any counsellor but try CAB & they should have a list for you.

I am not a big fan of work counseling I think things like that often come back to bite ya.
I would keep it separate from work at least till you know what you are dealing with.

I recommend the Relationship Services website.

This looks to be their http://www.relate.org.nz/ContactUs/WellingtonWairarapa/tabid/172/Default.aspx - Welly list - also remember to look into the 6 (??) free sessions you can get through the Family Court.

Good luck!

I originally cantacted a cousellor through the Newtwon Community Centre, she was about $20 a session and initially she was good as a sounding board and helped me in the inital stages of my depression to see some clarity.   I saw her for about 6 sessions originally and she helped me back on track
I am currenlty seeing a cognitive therapist privately who I hope will help me get something of the old Claire back into my life. Drop me a PM if you want details of either of these people.
How is your GP, would they be a good resource, I know my GP was invaluable when Fay was born and made some suggestions for therapists too
I am so sorry you are going through this at this time (or any time)
good luck, there is light at the end of the tunnel, you need some help as a family to find it tho and I hope you do
