Nathaniel is extending an open invitation to the other staff members to come round here and watch the rugby Saturday night. I'm not sure how many people will come, but I'm thinking around 15-20. Our neighbour (who is also the computing teacher) is going to bring his couch over... so with that, and our two couches, and assorted other chairs we should be able to seat 17 people... and there's always the floor! We're borrowing the school's projector, so being able to see the game won't be a problem!

We're making it BYO alcohol as Nat doesn't drink at all (he doesn't like the taste) and I don't drink while pregnant. We are happy to supply soft drinks, and nibbles, so I went grocery shopping today... do you think I got enough stuff (assuming 15 - 20 people):

- 4x packets potato chips (2x plain, 2x salt 'n' vinegar)
- 1x packet corn chips (salsa)
- 2x dips (french onion, seafood)
- 1x salsa (mild)
- 3x cheeses (camembert, brie, mild blue)
- 1x pate (cracked pepper)
- 1x pack mini MealMates crackers
- 2x packs rice crackers (original, barbeque)
- peanuts
- sausage rolls

- 2x 2.25l Coke
- 2x 2.25l Diet Coke
- 2x 2.25l Lemonade

I forgot to get orange juice, so there will be a 3l bottle of that as well... and maybe some sticky chicken nibbles...

I haven't had to organise something like this that doesn't involve kids for a while!

That sounds like HEAPS of food - and people will probably bring nibbles along too. Sounds like you are going to have a great night!!

Even if you were drinking i would definitly make it BYO, it would cost a fortune to get drinks for 20 people.

The only thing I would suggest is a couple more packets of chips, Im always amazed how quickly they disappear.

WOW! Sounds like it's gonna be a good night! I'm gonna put my ticket on trade me and come to your party instead! Beats soggy cheaps and freezing my butt off!

Actually, hang on a second.... Luke McAlister's thighs are well worth the soggy chips and cold butt

Maybe next time Becca LOL

Lol Toni

I'm going to get a couple more packets of chips (thanks Erin) and 2kg or so of chicken nibbles... Thanks for the suggestion of pizzas, Becs, I'll talk to Nat and see what he thinks.

that sounds like heaps. if you did want to add anything else a french bread stick is always a good cheap idea, just sliced up (toasted if you want) and people can put the cheese or pate on it, pesto and hummus are also really yummy on it plus with the added bonus of bread being good for soaking up alcohol so your guests wont get so tipsy!

Geez Becca, that's a big undertaking!
I know if I were coming then I'd bring something too, so wouldn't worry too much about getting more food. And if you have a pizza place (in Ohakune?!?!) then you can just organise that on the night if needed

There are two pizza places in Ohakune - both gormet (sp?) pizzarias! I think we'll pass on paying $18 for a small pizza...

I'm going to go to the supermarket shortly, and get some pistachios, and the chips and juice... and some Lemsip for me cause I feel like I'm getting the 'flu this morning!

I got all the clean washing folded and away last night, and the ironing done and hung up... so there's just yesterday's dishes to do and the dining table to discover under the mess! Nat said he'll help me tonight, so at least I don't have to do it alone... I think I better go and get dressed...
