I have early mastitis and went to the Dr yesterday becasue the pain in my left breast and the headache I cant shake off is driving me insane. He has given me antibiotics to start but Im just a bit worried what affects it will have on Jackson.
So just wanting to know what if anything happened to your bubs while taking the antibiotics and were they unsettled because of it?

I had the antibiotics and didn't notice a difference with Leah. I got to mine really early and almost felt better instantly!

Ouch Rianna! I feel your pain!
I was on 1000mg 4x a day and was really worried about DS. Apparently it is safe and baby gets less than 1% of it. I tried to take them straight after a feed.
Get well soon!!

I had fluox (something or other...lol) 3 times with Spencer and once with Kyle and noticed no difference in them. Always felt better nearly straight away once on them as well.

Thanks ladies, it makes me feel better knowing only very little will pass through my milk to Jackson. Gah, looking forward to feeling better

The most annoyiing thing for me was with mine I had to take them on an empty stomach...so had to plan when I ate, which is hard when you have no idea what you'll be doing nor the baby.

Yeah same, and would be starving as well, 4 tabs a day on an empty stomach is not easy to do when you have the breastfeeding munchies.

The empty stomach bit was the hardest part here too, lol!
I also felt better really quickly after starting ABs, and never noticed them having any affect on Ollie.

Thanks ladies. Im on Cephalexin and am starting to feel much better, at least no more splitting headache. Although the instructions say I can take it with or without food so that is making it a bit easier!

Jake got diarrhea towards the end of my dose of AB (also to be had on an empty tummy) but that was for my c-section infection and it was a 10 day course.
Hope you get better soon hun!

The gremlins got diarrohea when I was on erythromycin (sp) for a nipple infection, but lil miss hasn't reacted to cefaclor when I've been taking it, and it's a cephlasporin similar to the one you are taking.

Take care Rhianna. I had to take that same antibiotic after Daniel was born for post partum infection (waters broke too early) and I was worried that it was affecting Daniel but the midwife visiting said that very little went through to him. I also tried to take it straight after a feed.
Make sure you finish the whole course. Mastitis can turn very nasty very quickly. I was hospitalised with my bout. Not cool.

I am on my 2nd to last day of antibiotics for mastitis and I haven't noticed a change in Ben. Glad I am not the only one that was starving due to having to take them on an empty stomach!
I had to have IV antibiotics for mastitis with Jack and there was no change in him either.

Well Im at day 2 with the AB's and so far so good. The only change I've noticed wtih Jackson is he is feeding more often, although that could be a growth spurt.
Argh Carrie thats terrible. I'll definitely be finishing the course.
Thanks ladies
