Subject: OB email addresses (Wgtn)

Hi,
I'm brand new to all of this, about 7 weeks pregnant - just waiting on bloods/tests from Dr.

My mum is very staunch that we need to be using an obstetrician, especially for the 1st pregnancy...

So I've read that OB's can get booked up really quickly BUT I'm at work and can't call without colleagues hearing me!

Does anyone have email addresses for Anju Basu, Michel Sangalli or Fali Langdana? I was wanting to email their receptions and ascertain if they can take me on.

Thanks!

I would call them - their numbers should be in the medical section at the front of the white pages.

I also heard last week the Jeremy Tuohy is returning to private practice (he has only been doing high risk obstetrics at Wellington Hospital for the past 18months). He is very nice, we have used him twice and he runs a practice with 3 midwives working there full time so you know who you are dealing with.

Honestly, I know you would be worried abut people over hearing but you would be best to call, if they are anything like midwives they will have questions for you to see if they can take you on.

And yeah, warning...they cost a lot so if your mum is the one insisting hopefully she wants to help out!

I have dealt with Anju Basu and she is very nice, if I was to pay for an OB I would get her. I have her card (got last september so hopefully still the correct details) and her email is: Anju.Basu@ccdhb.org.nz
good luck!!!

Thanks for all your replies - yes Mum is helping out.

I have called a few and it's impossible to get in.

One of the receptionists said that fertility associates tell all their clients to book as they are getting their IVF treatment, so no wonder it's booked in so quickly!

Crazy how fast things book up. Sounds like there is a shortage of OBs around Wellington. I hope you manage to find someone.

Found! Jeremy is available - he's taking on pregnancies due from Feb onwards. Only taking on 6 clients. I was the last one on.

Yay!

Anju Basu did my lap surgery and i got such a bad infection i was put onto bed rest. she lost my notes twice and sent the wrong persons notes to my doctor. this is the first i have ever heard about he being ok. i know 3 other ppl that have used her and would never go back so id suggest you have lots and lots of positive feedback before you look down that option. i went with howard clentworth but he is a love him or hate him guy. he is a bit rude, crass and way too laid back for some ppl but i love him. sorry cant help with any email addys. most ppl also wont respond so i would try find a time to ring them. most are open later than normal working hours so shouldnt be too hard

I am with Michel, he is good - very thorough and I do trust him. I understand its hard to get in anywhere at the moment though!

I also heard bad things about Anju Basu so avoided like the plague. Glad I got in with Michel - I really wanted John Tait again but he has stopped taking on OB patients, darn it!

Thanks everyone for your feedback - I also figured out I'm less than 7 weeks pregnant - due early May, it makes me realise there would have been zero chance if I had been 7 weeks - my recommendation to anyone who thinks they might be preggers and who wants a specialist to get in quick sticks!

This is a rather expensive thing and I don't know if it is relevant now, but I can say that you can just get consultations online
