Go into your bank with all the details and they will do it for you. There will be a fee involved.

I'm quite a newbie at all of this. So just their bank acc number, and bank branch?

yeah take their name, account number and bank they bank with into your bank - may cost you a bit for the transfer though.
Western Union otherwise do money tranfers and they have offices all over...we used them for ones to USA and China recently when setting up initial stock purchases for our business

You may need to get a SWIFT number too? Not 100% sure but I had someone from Oz want to transfer money to our work account a few weeks ago and he needed a SWIFT number to do it.

Yup you will need the SWIFT code for the bank in Aussie (well you did when I was working in branch 18 months ago.. may have changed) plus acct/branch number. They may get charged a fee on their end as well if you are with a different bank. The standard TT fee is $25 in NZ (and I think $AUD10 to receive it). OOh, they may also want the address of the branch too (my memory is sketchy on the details).

details needed are
Australian bank and account:
Full name of bank account (person)
their address
Bank name, branch and address
Bank account number (in full)
they may been a BSB number or swift code - but most banks can ring their international help desk to find this out if they do.
it cost $25 at most places and is pretty quick (I did one and my brother got it the next day)
Please note - You can only do these at your own branch now as they have got tough on fraud and stuff
and its called a Telegraphic transfer.
You could also get a bank draft/international chequw but that takes longer as you have to send to over to them.
