Hi there, i have just finished my first round of public funded IVF. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful, I am due for my next round to start in Dec. I found the first round extremely scary not knowing what to expect, but the support on these forums from real women with past experiences really helped me alot.
I am more than happy to offer support or any questions you may have.
Good luck for your blood test and fingers crossed for your egg collection being on Monday.

Hi Sez27,
Thank you for your reply, I'm sorry to hear about your first try hopefully the second one would be successful. I'm super scared at the moment but so excited at the same time I'm trying to think positive and also not to get my hopes up too high incase it wont work for me either, i've being trying to conceive for 7yrs now and still no luck... Anyway, would you mind telling me what happen?do you know the reason why it failed? can you share your story? Sorry to be so nosy i just wanted to know and how long again can you try after an unsuccessful cycle? how was your egg collection was it painful? Thanks so much and hoping to hear from you again!

We have been trying for around 8 years so I totally know how you feel. I have moderate endo and my DH has low coount/motility.
I too was scared before the actual treatment. For me it was painful but it does depend on the person, it took me 2 hours to recover afterwards, yet the other ladies that day where in and out no problem. Everyone seems to have different experiences. Because of the sedatives I can't really remember the pain now and it was quick so I would totally do it again, no problem. The whole thing only lasted around 15 minutes or so and they tell you how many eggs you get as they go. We got 10 eggs from our cycle with 6 fertilising. Unfortunatley by the time of the transfer we only had one that was viable. So had a day 5 transfer with a day 4 embryo. We haven;t had our follow up appt yet but they did say at the time that they thought it may be a sperm issue so we will address that next time around. DH is starting menevit now to hopefully improve things for the next time around.
Not sure about the waiting times. Our first cycle was Aug and the next Dec, I think it depends on funding because some ladies at different clinics have to wait longer.
I guess my only advice is try not to stress, which is hard with the unknown. I actually found the tww after the embryo transfer the hardest because of the waiting.
Hope everything goes well for your transfer.

Hi Olijoy, Just wanted to say all the best for your first cycle... it is a very stressful and hard time but exciting as well. I went through premature menopause so have know since I was 16 that I would need IVF and an egg donor if I was to have children. We went through our first cycle in dec07-feb08 got five eggs but only one good one that was put back....HCG was 13 so a BFN. Started another cycle in may this year got four good eggs two of which we have already used and had a BFN (big fat negative). I'm on meds at the moment planning a put back for the 21st sept. I totally know what the waiting game is like!!! You'll enjoy this forum and being able to chat and hear what other people are going through.

Hi Sez27 and Moogle,
Thanks for your support, had my egg collection yesterday and had 10 eggs collected it was painful but tolerable the whole day i had mild cramping but its fine now, had found out this morning that 9 out of 10 had been fertilized will find out on thursday when is the transfer hope everything goes well... and i wish you both success on your next cycle.
By the way i have a case of unexplained fertility which is really frustrating knowing there's no problem with both of us i really wish this is the solution to the unknown...

Hi Olijay, awesome 10 eggs with 9 fertilising.. good job! I hope you get a good healthy embie for your transfer! Good luck.
Moogle, good luck for your transfer also. You are both going to do the TWW together... I found that part the hardest. Trying not to stress was the biggest hurdle for me. Hope you have some relaxing things planned for the wait. Fingers crossed for you both!

Hi Olijoy well done on a good collection, hope they grow on well for you in the lab. The whole IVF process is pretty intense (I've just been through an unsuccessful one with both fresh and frozen blastocysts), but I'm up for a second attempt now (luckily) and I'll put myself through anything to try to get a little baby
I think anyone who puts themselves through IVF is very brave and the forums on here are absolutely brilliant support so 'post' away!
Good luck for your transfer, and to you too Moogle!!

Hi Olijoy, had my put back today - all good! YAY! I'm a little confused though cause I also have my blood test on the 30th yet we both had a day 5 blasti put back on two different days?? Generally you have the test on day 14 so if you have a day 5 embryo day of put back is day 5 - make sense??? Different clinics do things differently???? Can be very confusing!!! Take care, hope you're doing okay, the wait is not easy aye!

Hi tischler, yeah 30th is soon so fingers crossed for us...it's really hard excited but the same time scared because of the result oh my nothing can be done but wait i'm trying to keep my mind occupied but you cant help it even if im watching tv your eyes is just looking at the screen but your mind is in the baby world hope i'm not the only one like this he,he i must be insane anyway thank you!

Been there done the insane thing olijoy, and I'm going to do it all again! You really must be either crazy or committed to the cause to do IVF I totally understand the staring at a square box thing - yet the embryo's have a mind of their own so why do we put ourselves through all the stress?!*
It is certainly something that you will always remember regardless of outcome, and something that only those of us who go through it can actually understand.
Hang in there!

hi moogle, it's really hard i think i'm going crazy i'm just taking each day at a time but can't help to think about it all the time especially that you are wanting this for so long and to think you've done all you can but at this stage your just helpless and nothing can be done now except to wait. but your right it's not long now will have to survive.... Anyway how are you feeling? any signs for you? for me i haven't had any cramping or bleeding? except that i always have to go pee all the time does the progesterone pessaries makes you urinate all the time? and i have to wake up 4:30 am to eat coz i'm super hungry well probably its all on my mind he,he! keep in touch as we are both on the same journey hope it turns out well for us...

Hi Olijoy! No I don't think it's the pessaries that make you pee all the time! Lol about you having to eat in the middle of the night!! Are you going to do a pee test?? I have had really sore boobs (I assumed because of the pessaries) and have been feeling really bloated especially after eating and can't eat that much at once. I gave in this avo and went and got a pee test which came back as a BFP!!!!! I have had a biochemical pregnancy in the past that didn't come to anything so hoping it's the real thing! Good luck! All the best to us aye!!!

Congratulations in advance moogle! things are looking good for you at least one of us made it bet is really a relief for you seeing BFP on pee test hoping it goes well till the blood test...
As for me my dreams came crashing down today, its just yesterday i'm telling you that i've got no bleeding or cramping but now i'm bleeding i don't know what it is all i know that my chance till the blood test is slim. i feel devastated all the emotions you can think of all i'm hoping for some miracle or that it's just like other ladies that there can be bleeding and still be pregnant...well all the best for you and hopefully things would be alright for me i don't think i have some tears left to cry will still let you know what happen...

Oh Olijoy I just don't know what to say aye! Hang in there. I know of a couple of IVF ladies recently that had bleeding and are now well and truly pregnant so don't give up hope...it really is a rollercoaster ride. I'll be thinking of you, do let me know what happens.

Olijoy I know how it feels. Hang in there until the BT, it's not over till then. It'll be a long wait but hold on to hope
Please feel free to vent - we've all been there done that!

hi ladies,
had my BT a day earlier than expected, so had it today and it's confirmed failure! oh well what else can i say and do except to move on and try again...unfortunately i can only have one embie put back again in nov. same as this time so chances are one is to none again but hopefully next time it will work. Any of you knows or have any idea why a transferred embie never develops and AF came? will the embie dissolve by it's own i really have no idea how this things happen all i know is that it's heartbreaking but nevertheless don't loose hope one day it'll be my turn to have the lil baba i've always wanted...time to heal my wounded heart and mind!
Goodluck moogle for your BT Tom..

Olijoy I am so so sorry, I hope you take some time to look after yourself and do something nice. It is never easy when you get the BFN. My heart goes out to you

Hi Olijoy, so sorry to hear your news. It's just absolutely gutting when you get the confirmation of what you suspect, even though in the back of your mind you think just maybe there is still a chance.
You really need to take time out to grieve and to do things you enjoy. Go and have a facial or do something for you, it is a good distraction.
In regard to why, my specialist said that the embryo just decides for itself whether to stick just like it decides whether it'll be a boy or girl if it does stick. There is absolutely NOTHING you could have done, it's out of your control.
Perhaps your chance will be with a frozen transfer - they say that sometimes the more 'natural' cycle, without the drugs, can be quite successful!
Don't lose hope, there are options out there for you. Thinking of you

How you doing Olijoy? Life seems so unfair at times aye? All I can say is hang in there and don't give up hoping! Treat yourself!
I feel so stink to have to tell you that my blood test was a good positive - not sure if you would want to know or not so sorry if it's too much for you.

Thanks ladies... i will be fine maybe it's not my time yet better luck next time! It's just depressing when you know you have sacrifice a lot just to have a baby and yet you failed I have given up my job a long time ago just to focus on this, i wanted all the good outcome so i stop work even do it's recession and struggle financially coz we were so determined to focus on the baby but sadly to say i have to wait till november to try again so my mind is confuse should i start looking for a job again or wait? Thank you again for the support, concern... Hopefully next time i would be back again with a good story to tell!
Moogle, I'm so happy for you congratulations! Don't feel bad for me I will be ok! the important part is you succeed and that's something we ladies would like to hear at least one wish is fullfilled as for me I will have my turn soon. Let us know how your doing I would love to know your journey...
