| 4-5 weeks is when we really noticed it. GP said it was pretty typical at this age for it to become noticeable |

| Screaming, not really. More grizzly, didn't want to settle or sleep. Feeding was awful, stopping and starting and overfilling himself because swallowing milk made his throat feel better |

I just wonder about Ash as she wakes every 1 to 1.5 hours in the night and in between feeds seems to struggle constantly with milk washing up and down in her throat. She is not a crier at all though, ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

| You could always just go to the GP and explain what shes like and try some infant gaviscon. When we tried this it worked for a few days but helped us figure out he had silent reflux. After those first few days though it stopped working and we went onto ranitidine |

Generally silent reflux becomes apparent at about 12 weeks. Usually not much later though -------------

Jakes became very apparent at about 5 weeks, we tried gaviscon and rhuger but at 12 weeks it had gotten much worse so ended up putting him on omezrapole.
Jake didnt scream so much as cry out in pain or whimper in his sleep. It wasnt constant just when it really hurt. Each week it got a bit worse. -------------

Ashley does that...in the night she will wake & feed and then when put back down just dozes making silent refluxing sounds, high-pitched noises, farting, squirming and grunting. Within an hour she will fully wake and start rooting around like crazy and won't really settle again until after another feed..where it all starts again.
She is usually fine during the day but for the last 3 days she has taken long naps during the day and not wanted awake time...she just starts to grizzle if I try to keep her up. Not sure why she is suddenly so sleepy in the day, maybe it is because of the rough nights. She'll be 6 weeks friday and has woken 1 or 2 hourly in the night since birth (except for 3 nights where she did slightly longer stretches). ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

Jake was on meds by 4 weeks. He'd scream all day unless he was upright poor baby. We went straight on Omeprazole and the first dose had him going down for his first ever nap without a fuss! -------------

DD showed signs from about 2-3 weeks but they got worse around 6 weeks I think, this is when the screaming started and she ended up on Omeprazole. The main sign with her at first was a lot of swallowing even when she was asleep and signs of general discomfort. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Cian's symptoms really kicked in about 3-4 weeks, didn't convince the doctors that it was silent reflux until 8 weeks!!! and then they pretty much stopped right on 6 months... a combo of a completely lactose free diet (for me), infant gaviscon & gripe water got us through. not perfect by any means, but workable  ------------- Anita Mum to Cian (Aug 08), Josh (Jun 10) http://lilypie.com">

6 weeks and it was all on!!! he went from a happy spilly baby to a screaming banshee! thickened formula + ranitidine did the trick though it took alomost 2 weeks to work cos he throat was badly burnt from it -------------

We had an idea since about a week old. It started becoming more obvious when he was 3 weeks and with the 6 weeks jabs I had him at the Dr and he obviously has it.
However we are not medicating for it at all at the moment. I just position him differently and if need be walk with him in the front pouch or sling until I can put him down in bed with me. I also just put up with the regular wake ups at night. he seems to prefer not a too fully tummy at night and rather feed smaller amounts more often. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Thanks ladies. Ashley is a very very peaceful baby and certainly doesn't scream at all. She is super happy flat on her back for floor time etc so I think our issue is just wind. Fingers crossed anyway! ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

Alot of the time silent reflux doesn't become painful until 12 weeks. Hopefully it is just wind though. -------------
