How old were your children when you took them to the cinema for their first movie?
Isabella is 2 and a half and crazy about the movies we have at home, I'm thinking of taking her to see UP.
Is there a specific screening thats better for small children? Maybe early saturday mornings?
Even if she only watches 20 minutes I think it would be a fun outing for her.

Dear God, I can hardly bring myself to pay the ridiculous prices at the movies as they are, let alone if I only watched 20 mins of the movie!
You must have very deep pockets

AzzaNZ, you work eh? Otherwise you could try the mums & babies session to see what she thinks. I reckon first thing in the morning on the weekend is a good idea (if it doesn't clash with sleep time). The cinema is usually empty-ish or full of kids at that time
My nanny charges were about 3 I think, the first time their Dad took them to the movies. They both coped really well at that age, the wee boy was a bit scared in parts of the movie though (it was Polar Express).
Have fun

I think C was about 2 and a half, cant remember what we saw, she got bored after 20 mins, but she loved that she and mummy were doing a "big kids activity "

Yeah, I work full time so it needs to be on a weekend. Empty or full of kids works for me! I would hate to disturb other people if she's a bit excited, kwim?
ChundaMars, what does a movie ticket cost? I'll admit we dont go to movies so I dont have the first idea. I thought it would be comparable pricewise to taking her to Kelly Tarltons/The Zoo, isnt it?
Not something we'll make a habit of but it will be a nice treat for her.

I took J to see Kung Fu panda when it came out. so about 3. He wanted to go home halfway through, but I wanted to see it all, so made him stay... mean mother. Rod took him to madagascar at xmas time and he came home after about half an hour, jake hated it, got bored. At home they can get up and down and go to the loo, wander away and get teddy, its daylight etc. i thought he's love it os he loves dvd movies etc.
Am going to try him again this holidays tho,,, see how it goes. Tis bloody expensive, tho, especially if you have to leave half way through!!!!

I don't think the cinemas are full on weekend during the day? but then its school holidays next week too so that might change.
I used to take my brother to the movies when he was 4, he used to turn around and watch everyone sitting behind him instead haha

Keira went to her first movie in the last school holidays (just before she turned 4) She has never been one to sit through a whole movie so I was slightly worried how she would be. She was fine and I think the excitement of the whole thing was enough to keep her entertained.
There were many toilet stops (I think the movie was slightly too scary - Aliens vs Monsters) but other than that she did really well and still goes on about it.

I took Maya to see the Heffalump movie when she was two, she loved it and cried at the end cos she didn't want it to be over lol!
I'm not sure about Hoyts but Village it's free for Under 5's if they sit on your knee, and as long as it's not a full session you can put them on a seat so it's not too dear, especially if you go on cheapy Tues.

jake was wall-e at 3.5 - fine and loved it, taine was ice age 3 at 3.5 and a pain in the butt. depends on the kid.
but check the movie out first - am thinking of Up for the kids, but some people have said at times it is quite slow and long (for children with the attention span of gnats)

Thanks everyone! Definitely wont be doing it this weekend as Miss Belle is being an absolute troll. I'll save it for when she's behaving herself!
