Hi all.
Well am very new to this baby biz. My hubby and I recently got married and have decided now could be the time to start on expanding our family. At this stage I'm not going to bother charting and all that stuff, just play it all by ear and if it happens it happens. Fingers crossed the wait isn't too long tho.

Hello,
My husband and I are trying for #1 also, and are up to our third month of trying now. I'm the same as you, 1stTime, I don't want to get too hung up on all the methods. I started to get that way, but then decided to put the books away and just relax about it all. It is quite overwhelming though
Good luck

Hi there, just wanted to add my 2 cents. My husband and I are just about to have our first wedding anniversary, and are also TTC for our first baby, have been trying for 3 months and hopefully this one is it :) It can be a stressful process so I agree, so try not to get hung up in the books and tests etc until you have to. Like Vicki I got caught up in all of that but have decided just to see how it goes for now.
Would love to chat to people who are also trying for their first as I am not telling my friends until it happens, and as I am 23 Im quite young so they don't really understand. So anyone in the same situation would love to talk to you :)

Hi Lisaas101, this is our first time trying for a baby, I went off the pill in August and began taking folic acid. We went on our (delayed) honeymoon end August and started our TTC from then. September also came and went with a wee bit of action around when I thought was ov but who knows. Haven't noticed anything diff with my body so am assuming AF will arrive early this week sometime. We will see. I've only told my sister that we are TTC.
So many people around us have announced their pregnancy's so am feeling like if we were to do the same there wouldn't be much excitement to go around if you get what I mean. I would be happy for things to take another month or so.

Hi guys, sorry to jump in here. I went off the pill last month (was on it for a few years) started to take folic acid. Now im 3 days late for my period. Preggy Tests i got from my sister, who works in a docters surgery , are coming up negative. Im feeling a bit queasy and peeing a bit more frequently but thinking it might just be in my head..... Its horrible waiting to find out. people say coz ive been on the pill for a while, it wont happen staight away.

Hey lisaas101, good luck for your first. Seems like we are in the same sort of situation, however I'm 35, so my worry is my older age. I guess it doesn't really matter how old you are, people seem to have all kinds of different experiences no matter what their age.
Kirst84, good luck to you too. I've been off the pill for about 2 years, and it hasn't happened for me straight away. Before that I was on the pill for quite a few years. I agree with you, the waiting is the hardest.
Good luck for this month 1stTime.

Hi Kirst, I so know what you mean, the first month we seriously started TTC and timed everything right, I had myself convinced I was pregnant, I was nauseous, sore boobs, all sorts, and honestly thought the test was just going to confirm it but then it was negative, and AF showed up. I was heartbroken so since then I have tried not to think I am pregnant but I think in the back of my mind I always slightly convince myself that I am. It's a really tough process.
I know what you mean about the pill, I was on it for about 5 years and its taken a year and a half for my cycle to return to some kind of normality. If I had known what I know about it now, I would never have gone on it to begin with, and I wont ever go back on it.
Vicki, good luck to you too! Its my 1st wedding anniversary this weekend and also fertile time so Im hoping we are going to be blessed hehe. I never realised this whole process was going to be so hard.
1st time I hope you have good news already :)

AF due last night/this morn, but no sign. Could be just her settling down since coming off the pill. Had crazy emotions last week (normally happens before AF), so think she'll turn up eventually.

Hey guys,
Did anyone feel nauseous coming off the pill? Im 4 days overdue for my first non pill period, and not feeling great at all! Dont think im prgnant coz i taken about 5 quickcard tests, as you do when ya trying Just feeling like you do when your hungover, kind of queasy....

Hi Kirst, cant say I had any nauseous feelings coming off the pill. Didn't really notice any major changes. Although I do really miss that knowing exactly when AF will arrive!
I tested again this morn and still a BFN, AF now by my calculations about 2 days late, but then thats assuming a regular cycle which since its only been 2 months off the pill kinda hard to determine.

Hey Kirst, my husband and I are trying to conceive #1 as well and I am 36 so one of the 'oldies'....well according to the books anyway.
I've been off the pill for a year now so I cant remember my cycles. I think I was a bit all over the show for a few months - cycles were between 26 - 32 days if I remember rightly. A year later I am usually 29 days.

Its horrible because i have been on the pill a long time and always got AF mon-fri, never missed a beat. Now im 4 days overdue. I fully thought it was coming because i had the usual bloating etc. Last week i felt like my nipples were going to break off! they hurt so much, which was something i have never felt before! Gone back to normal now, just wish a test would go postive or AF would turn up!!! TTC is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster really!

Hey Kirst, I have noticed that since Ive been off the pill I have had things like sore boobs and bad cramps which I never had on the pill, so it could just be that natural periods are more painful and do more to your body :( hehe I definitely notice them a lot more now.
I had the exact same thing a few months in a row where I had the lot, all these symptoms but turned out to just be AF. A lot of people on here complain about the symptoms being the same.... one of the really annoying things about TTC.
The pill really is a pain and it's hard to know when your cycle will come back .When it does it's not always the same as it was on the pill either, which is frustrating.
Fingers crossed something happens for you either way soon even so you can just know what to expect from here in terms of your cycle. Obviously a BFP is much more preferable hehe :)
Have you guys tried Vitex? I am taking it, its a vitamin which helps to regulate your cycle again, people often suggest it after coming off the pill. If AF doesnt come but no BFP you should give it a try.
I dont know whether it works or not but I took it for about a month and had my first right on time AF, then I stopped taking it and it wasnt as regular after that, so Ive gone back on it. Worth a shot

haha im a bit iffy about taking vitamins my docter says i have a sensitive bladder and certain vitamins make me feel like i have a UTI... luckily the folic acid isnt affecting it but i was quite gutted that the fish oil capsules i tried to take made that feeling come back! I read fish oil can help with brain and eye developement...

Just wanted to say good luck to everyone and looking forward to getting to know you all a lot better over the coming months.
FYI, I've been off the pill for over 3 years and it took and year and a half just for me to actually get a period and I've only just become regular now so this is my first month of TTC. But being a newbie I got all my timing wrong so I thinked I missed my window for this month - whoops

Hi 1stTime, good luck with the OV! I'm so confused about my cycle I have no idea where I am. I thought it had settled to about a 31 day cycle which means I'm due for AF any day now but a couple of days ago I noticed egg whites so I just went for it with my husband hoping that OV was late this month.
I've sent of for a basal thermometer so I'll get a better idea of my cycle when that turns up. Although fingers crossed with my recent antics with my husband I won't need it

To tell you the truth, I've never really taken any notice of what my body does and when. Having been off the pill for only nearly 3 months, I kinda just "wing it", am hoping the OPKs will give me a good insight to when I OV. The calendar says it should be about Monday, so will see if thats what OPK says too...

Will do Vicki. It hasn't arrived yet but I don't really know if it's late with my cycle being the way it is. I think its late lol
Did you get any symptoms? This is the first month since TTC that I don't have any 'symptoms' around this time lol I don't know if that's good or bad. Usually have the sore boobs etc and convince myself that I am. I have been really really tired and sore back, but I have been on a teaching placement for university so that could easily be the cause lol Who knows. Im going to wait until Saturday and test then if nothing happens, seems ages but every other time Ive thought my period was late it came a few days to a week later so I just want to be sure before going through that again.
You must be so happy :)

Hi lisa. Usually I get the worst case of sore boobs about two weeks prior to when AF is due. This time I got nothing. But in saying that there had been the odd occasion in the past that that had happened. I also experienced some light headedness, and felt more hungry. I initially put it down to having started biking to work, but when my period didn't arrive on the 29th day (the last 3 months were bang on), I started to have an inkling. Also, on the day my period was due I did start to get sore boobs, which I thought was very unusual.
We are very happy, but I have to say it really is hard to believe. You start to doubt the result, so this morning we tested again, this time using the pg test that my doctor had given me. No doubt about it, very strong lines! I feel a lot more reassured now.

And as I say my cycle is not that predictable, but its been 38 days now in what is normally 33-35 so yeah. I dont have any AF symptoms like I normally do but I dont have any other PG symptoms except being really tired and just feeling a bit fluttery in the stomach, but that could be any number of things so who knows. I just found out that not only is my husbands sister pregnant but also my brothers girlfriend is as well - two weeks apart from each other. Of course I'm happy for them but can't help but feel extremely jealous wishing it was me. Noone ever told me the TTC game was full of these ups and downs. Although I am so ready for a baby, I'm not at the stage of desperation (meant in the nicest way). There are girls on here that so desperately want a baby and my heart goes out to them. To want something soooo much and to have it just not happen for ages. I can only imagine. Although that could of course be me in a few months time.
FX & TX for you Lisa. Sending you POS+ vibes....

Thanks 1st time
Yeah its funny, I came into this the same way, wanting a baby but not desperate as I am also studying and have a new career to look forward to as well.
But once you start trying and go through a few months you start to realise how much you really do want it... it's weird. Im not good at waiting for anything. We have been trying for 4 months so I have no reason to be worried but I do get so upset every time I get a negative which is why I held off. I can't imagine it ever being positive, which is silly, but its so hard to imagine.
Just got to keep trying I guess, you're right no one ever tells you how hard it is

AF made an unwelcome appearance in the middle of the night.... oh well. At least it came. Nothing to do but keep trying I guess! It will happen when the time is right

Hi everyone,
I'm new here!
Been trying for baby no. 2 for 4 months now (it took me 5 months with DS).
I've been trying to be very relaxed about it all and try not to think about it so much (easier said than done!) But four months of being "relaxed" hasn't helped so i thought I'd join up here and then at least i'll have other people that are TTC to speak to!
I'm currently in day 29 of a 28-30 day cycle and i'm possibly thinking about testing tomorrow, not sure if i can face it though, last month i was convinced i was and then i got a BFN which really got me down.
Anyway hows everyone getting on??

Hi Ladies
Im new to this site so thought I would introduce myself.
Im (26) and DH (30) and we are on cycle 3 TTC #1. We did conceive last year after some months of not trying but not preventing. Unfortunately it ended in a mc at 11weeks with a blighted ovum. Im hoping that this month will be our month!!!! I think Im 10DPO, tested last Friday which may have been to early and got a BFN so just waiting to see if AF turns up or not. I hate seeing that single line on its own so don't want to test again until Friday if AF hasn't showed up by then.
Look forward to chatting with everyone and sharing our TTC journeys together.
Lots of baby dust to all...

Yeah Im the same only my sister knows we are TTC, but I don't even like talking to her about it. Shes got a 2 year old, unplanned. She brought it up in the weekend, shes like have you POAS yet are you pg, maybe you should see a dr. How does DH feel when you don't get a +HPT, (I felt like saying how to I feel??? ) I just don't need the pressure, I just don't think she understands what we are going through.... Its really not easy aye. I feel like just telling her to PO, but I know shes just excited that we are TTC, I know she really want to be an Aunty. Ah well I think I'll just keep with you guys its much easier and we all feel the same way and know what we are all going though. Sorry about the vent

Vent all you like. I did tell my sister that we were TTC too. But thats about it, she hasn't really asked anything since, which is good. She knows that if I have any questions (she has 3 kids), I'll ask her. And if we have anything exciting to tell, she'll be first to know.

Haha I'll join in on this! I get the question from everyone (workmates, friends and family) "when are you gonna start a family?" and it breaks my heart that i have to make out im not interested in trying at the moment, even though we are on our second month of TTC. I dont want anyone to know we are trying Because i thought the pressure would be too much but I get it regardless!!!! AARRRGGGHHHH
Haha I have to feel sorry for newly weds that really arent ready to start a family and get nagged about having babies! Its rubbish that people just assume, because you are ready to be wed, that you are ready to expand your family!

I have a few people that know we're ttc but none of them interfere and ask how things are going. I guess maybe they feel umcomfortable given the results of the last pregnancy? I'm glad i'm without those questions though, they would totally break me.

Yeah I don't know why people just don't stop and think for a second. What if we were TTC and it isn't happening... which it isn't. I personally know I will never ask someone that cos I know how it feels to be on the receiving end. TTC for me is not something I want everyone to know about. I don't want to feel like a failure of it not happening right away.
I have a friend who is now pg with her 3rd, totally unplanned I mean shes married and can offer a great life but she was ready to get back to the workforce. She’ll be 25 with three kids, that would be my dream come try being a stay at home mum. Why couldn’t that happen for all of us, why is it so easy for some and hard for others. Sometimes life is really so unfair… We all want babies so bad and know we will be great parents… ah whats wrong with me today??? Sorry ladies for the vent again, don't know whats going on…

I know that I will tell a select group of people as soon as I find out, because i'm just like that, and would actually prefer to go through another m/c with the support of others as opposed to doing it alone. I can understand your call though dneyn, it's hard to go through a m/c fullstop.

I think I will tell only our nearest and dearest when we conceive, as firstly I'll find it hard to keep secret and would be nice to have that support there if anything goes wrong. I am also guessing that when it happens it will be quite hard to keep from friends as DH & are are quite social and if I all of a sudden stop drinking everyone will guess. I never (touch wood) get sick so using an excuse of anti biotics probably won't work for me. And of course now we are coming into summer and xmas, its the peak time for drinkies, parties & bbqs!! Oh well its something I'll happily deal with when it happens.

Hi all
Another absolute newbie here as well! My husband and I have just started trying for our 1st! we are into our second month now. Much like you guys we are just taking it as it comes for the next few months and seeing what happens.
It's weird...I alternate between being super super excited and then nervous given I have spent all of the last 10 years trying to avoid it ...kinda freaks me out occasionally :-)
Anyway...just thought I would introduce myself seeing as i have just read all of the posts :-)

vent away wantabub... we've been trying seriously for 5 months now and before that when ppl would ask us about babies i would quite happily answer their questions but now that we;ve had so many unwelcome AF's, i feel like slapping the next person who asks me "when are you going to have a baby".....it makes me so sad and i never know what the correct answer is anymore without getting mad at them

I am currently waiting for AF to arrive. Unfortunately I have never been very good at keeping track of my cycle at the best of times so now I have no idea?? Came off the pill 2 months ago so I'm assuming it could be pretty up and down for a while...
Haven't started charting yet (although I must admit I have read all about it lately ) so will have to wait until next month to start...maybe
Hope everyone else is going well! We are off to Toast Martinbourgh tomorrow with a hole lot of friends so I'm hoping for a nice day!

Hi everyone!
Its so exciting to be on here. As you say Sophie, after 10 years of trying not to concieve, finally here we are TTC!
I'm 28, DH 29 and we're trying for our first. We're not telling anyone that we're TTC, coz it will be the first grandchild/niece/nephew on my side of the family, and I don't think they would be able to help asking how we were going all the time! Going to just wait till it happens then surprise them all and let the insanity ensue!
We're into our second month of TTC, AF is due on friday and she's usually pretty regular, so FX! Will be great to get to know everyone on here, everyone seems so nice and supportive, a great group!!
ps, how do i get a ticker thingy?
