Can anyone recommend a good baby monitor??
We got the Jolly Jumper one that was on special at Farmers on Thursday and I want to take it right back as there is so much interferrence (unless bubs can pick up the monitor and ask for help we're shot!). We tried it every which way to fix it and nothing worked.
We have a two storey house so it needs to be effective from upstairs to down.
Any advice would be great!!

I have a phillips one (got it thru Fly Buys)...and it works real good.....how ever we never tried to take it too far from the main baby monitor (we have a single storey house).
I also know that the angel Care Sound and movement monitors are really good...the best! As they also pick up the babies breathing movements...and if the baby does not breath for few seconds the alarm goes off, the range is 150m......It is expensive tho.

I have a fisher price one. I bought it because it also has a light on it, which you can position at different angles, and shows pictures on the ceiling. (I think it might be called something dreams??) I have hardly ever used it (it was one of those things that I thought I would need because it was on all the lists to buy in preggy magazines, but have never had a need for it.)But the one time I did use it I was outside gardening, and it seemed ok. There was only a very little bit of interference, and I could here Alex well. So I thought that was pretty good. But I haven't used any others so can't compare it to anything. So that probably doesnt help much sorry

I have a Phillips one that I picked up on Trademe that is great. I can have it on and take the receiver out to the washing line, downstairs and out to the letterbox and hear Andrew if he wakes up. We have it turned down pretty low most of the time, because it can get a bit addictive listening to him breathe, snort and gaffaw in his sleep though. Our monitor has two different frequency channels so that you can change bands if someone else in the neighbourhood has one.

we have the tommee tippee one and its great! it has a teddy bear on the baby unit that is a nightlight...you can also get a yellow bunny i think.
it has 2 frequency channels also. we got it from the warehouse, i think it was $80??
one thing i would look for is one that has lights on the front to show when bubs is making noise so you don't have to have the sound up while watching tv etc (our one does)

we have the phillips one I think we got off flybuys and also a seperate breathing monitor. I would have gone for angel care monitor that has the sound and breathing all in one but we werent going to get a breathing one except he was prem and my dad wanted to buy it for us but wouldnt be without it now. Oh and we have had no problems with the phillips monitor

Roksana, just due to the problems in this pregnancy we havent 100% decided and wont for like 1 - 2 years but yeh. Have chosen not to be cut open once again just to have adhesions dealt with which would/could make more and make it worse.
I already look like stab victim on my stomach

We have the AngelCare sound monitor and it's great. It's so sensitive we can hear Joshua breathing. I did want the sound and movement one but my mum bought it for us and got the wrong one accidentally (on Trademe so could not change it). Seems to be just fine though. The parent unit can be moved around, but during the powercut last week (out for 9 hours) the batteries went flat so have to just keep it plugged in now.

We have the AngelCare sound and movement monitor, and its so amazing! It really does work for sensing even just the movement from Grace breathing - there's been a few times when we've got her out of her cot and accidentially forgot to turn the switch off, and 10 seconds later the alarm goes off because it can't sense any movement. We tried 3 other monitors (including the Phillips - luckily we were able to take them back and exchange them!), and none of them picked up sound without interferance. Maybe its just something to do with the area we live in...
We didn't originally intend to buy the movement one, but it wasn't that much more than the sound alone one, and I'm so glad that we did - its just that little bit extra reassurance. It seems that with baby monitors, unfortunately you do seem to get what you pay for

I don't know my partners dad bought it for us and we hate his gf so i don't really feel like making a fuss cos she made such a big deal about buying it. It doesn't really matter i only use it when i stay at my parents and when it turns itself off they get up to Jack cos I can't hear him hahaha
