Hi Guys,
Just the last couple of weeks Jaxon has become really unsettled and won't be put down to sleep without bauling his eyes out. I've found that wearing him in a sling helps to settle him, and so the next step was to try sleeping him in a hammock. But, because the hammocks are quite expensive I thought I'd try to make one first to see if it worked before buying one.
So.... does anyone already have a hammock and would be willing to send me through some rough sort of measurements so that I could try my luck sewing one?
Thanks for your help!

We have a hammock - it's great! I would measure it for you, but DS is sleeping in it at the moment
Have you thought about hiring one instead? I know that the West Auckland Parent Centre has one that you can hire, or there is the http://www.babyonthemove.co.nz/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,137/category_id,29/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,1/ - Baby on the Move site.
That way you'd get all the paraphernalia with it - mattress, spreader bar, door clamp, hooks, chain and spring etc...
Just a thought.

check out trade me too. I wouldnt make one myself as you would have to make sure it was made perfect or it could possibly break. By the time you bought all the things to do it it would probably be just a s cheap to buy/hire one.

Joscia thanks for the idea of hiring - do you have any idea how much it would cost? I may have a look into that. If that doesn't work out, I don't think making one would cost too much - my Dad already has an assortment of springs/hooks/rings etc that I'd need, so it'd just be the cost of the material.
lilfatty - send me the link of your auction and I'll have a look!

Thanks Anthea - I guess if I was going to spend that, it would be better to get one off trademe rather than hiring one. Perhaps that is what I'll do and save myself the hassle of making one!
Joscia - I'll PM you if I change my mind and need those measurements after all! Thanks!
