Hi, we are going away next week for two nights with our 11 and a half month old. We are ok with breakfast and lunch but what can we do for dinner? I haven't booked accommodation but it will probably be without cooking facilities. I was thinking of making up and taking with us pumpkin/kumara (frozen), I think it won't defrost too much on our drive - is this safe to do? I was thinking worst case we could do ham with the vegs for dinner - does anyone else have any ideas? The cost of booking with a kitchette is about $150 more than just a room.

Maybe something like quiche and salad as they can be served cold and you could bring them with you? I guess your baby won't be into that though..I don't know, it is a bit of a tricky one!
Will you have any facilities available at all? ie a microwave?

No the rooms don't have a microwave they would probably heat up for instant the vegs as they were happy to sterilse the bottles for us last time - but apart from ham not sure what else to offer in the meat department ... Its hard as we aren't quite at the order of the menu stage ...

If they are willing to heat stuff maybe it would be worth taking some jarred food and just getting them to zap it for you?

at that age my kids eat what we eat - so i suppose it depends on what you were going to have yourselves.

Do you have to do any meat at all? A couple of nights without meat won't hurt

I find my boy will eat those watties little kids meals really well if we go out, and they shouldn't be too hard to get someone to heat them and they have meat in them.

Is there a mcdonalds? They do those pasta filled "animals" .. its only a couple of nights so im sure take away food wouldnt hurt.
We have never stayed anywhere that didnt have cooking facilities (as I didnt want to be stuck with the same dilemma as you), however I wouldnt hesitate buying her something from wherever we were going to eat, id just try and pick something suitable for her.

When Caleb was that age we either gave him a couple of cans of baby food with some bread and butter or baked beans/spaghetti etc
