Well, there are now 3 of us, so lets start our own thread... all those yukky early pregnancy symptoms. How is everyone feeling so far? (apart from nervous/scared/super excited!)
The tiredness, for me, is starting to abate, thank goodness, as I was feeling very rugged and wanting to crawl into bed at around 3pm, very difficult with a full on one year old. I also have waves of M/S, not as bad as last time (couldn't eat, lost 20kg) but I know it is early days yet. It is still fairly yuck, so am going to DR tomorrow to get a "stud" put in my ear by the DR who does accupuncture, I have heard this works wonders, so will let you know...

Im doing ok, am very tired but that has to do with working 6 day - 50+ hours a week! and having a 10 month old who still isnt sleeping!
am starting to feel quezy at work (not a good thing as I am a chef!)
been having a few cramps the last couple of days so must take it easy!

Just lurking here but I wanted to say...

I did a double take when I saw Feb babies - I was like "what? no way - surely not" - it feels like yesterday that I felt like I had the furthest to go being due in Sept! I remember that no one was due later than me - and now there are babies due in Feb! Unbelieveable! I can't believe how quickley that went by! Wow!

Congradulations!!!

Hi Trish
Jacob still dosen't sleep very well either, so it makes it hard, aye? In the last week or so, i have been so desperate, I got tough with him and did the go in, cuddle and change but not feed, then let him cry it out thing. After 3 nights of crying, he got the message, and now will still wake, but will lie in his cot singing to himself (loudly!)till he drifts off again. YAY! I had the accupuncture stud things put in my ear today. Feeling better already... I get cramps at night, so I put my feet up with a few bits of dairy milk and the remote, and do nothing! You must find it so hard working 50t hours a week. You need a medal girl!

It will be interesting caring for a baby when Im in wheelchair, but I have a great partner, and I spent 4 years as a nanny, and I coped then.

Hi ya everyone
Well - we just found out we are pregnant - yay!! I wondered how long you would wait before sorting out a midwife? The nurse at the family planning said to give it a couple of weeks before I ring up for one but I was worried about missing out...

Well, i went in to the clinic the day after I found out to leave a message for my midwife to call me, and I saw her then and there, and again 2 days later, and have my nect appt next week. I wanted to book in earlier cos my lady gets booked out really fast,a nd i just didn't want anyone else. Wouldn't hurt to ring around, surely? You will need to get all those lovely ante natal blood screens done. Am still going YAY for you!!

Thanks girls I am hoping that everything is ok.

I am from Wellington Trish - very cold here today!!

I think I will start ringing around today. The lady at the clinic said "if you don't manage to find a midwife..." and I was like - how can I not find one!! She said that it can be difficult due to staff shortages etc etc so I think I would be best to get in early

Well I can join you ladies today. I woke up this morning feeling funny and had been all week. After looking at the wall planner and working out dates I decided to bite the bullet and get a test and hello big positive. I think i'm due in Feb it makes sence but i'm going to get a scan to make sure as I have no idea when my last period was.

Kinda, we decided in May that we would think about trying, and then all it took was that one night of not using any protection (sorry TMI) to get pregnant. We were going to wiat until later this year to TTC but i've now adjusted to the fact that I am pregnant I am happy.

THe one thing with this pegnancy is i've got bad afternoon/evening sickness . I feel so rotten at the moment. I can't eat, but I can eat so hopefully thats a plus. We are hoping that the sickness mean a different sex as I didn't have anything with Andrew. Our worst fear is it's 2. I was talking with my twin second cousins last night and they said that their mum was really sick with them and so was my nana. Oh please not me.

Hi all! I'm new around here and newly pregnant. I'm due on Feb 15 2007 and very excited. I had a miscarriage earlier this year so am having early pregnancy monitoring through my fertility clinic (we've also had trouble TTCing!!). I;ve had one scan last week and all is fine so far. Have another one next Thursday.

Anyways just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a midwife in Auckland who delivers either at Birthcare or at Auckland Hospital?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mrs Crispy - congratulations!! Sorry can't help you there - i'm in Wellington/Porirua and haven't found a midwife yet either. Good luck with that.

I have a moan - I have a sore lower back, I feel bloated and my tummy feels streched. And I have a cold and I NEVER get colds!! Boo Hoo - at least I don't have any nausea yet I guess...

Well I think I am due end of Feb or even start of March, haven't been to docs yet so just kinda guessing and going by my last cycle. Its DH and my 1st Bub's so feeling alittle nervous (amongst other things). Tastic I sympathise with you totally as I am in exactly the same boat (cheffing for long hours) 15 hour days are not the best anymore and I feel quite sick alot of the time, also my sense of taste and smell has changed and cream smells and tastes off all the time. I am getting heaps of cramps similar to AF cramps, is this normal??? oh and Boobs are sooo sore.

Hi Hails

Sorry - i'm in Wellington so not too sure about stuff down there in Dunedin.
Totally understand your nervousness - this is my 2nd but first with my hubby. I am a bit scared to get too excited in case something goes wrong and am stressing about every little thing. Trying to tell myself to relax but its easier said than done
My boobs aren't that sore - only a little really. My back was really achy all weekend and I have been much more tired than usual and falling asleep really early. I am a bit off food and have this cold - I never get colds usually. Its amazing that something so small can have such an impact on your body aye!! And I totally don't get how you girls can work 15 hour days!!

Hi ,
Iv just found out that i am pregnant (YAY after 11 months of TTC!!!), iv only done home tests and they are faint but definate so im thinking positive,
I have a few dates to go on but im sure that its the one that would make me due 10th March 2007 (day after my sons 3rd bday!!! ).
I hoping to get my first midwife (from my son) and have been told that she will take me (by a lovely lady that i met on here that has the same midwife ) so heres hoping
I wasnt sure what the drill is but iv been told that i should go straight to that midwife (bypass the doctors) and she will do tests and take things from there...is that what everyone else did????

Hi Hayley,
We are going to keep it quiet from a few people but we are telling the people that are and have been our support system while we were having TTC problems like my mum, my friend and hubbys freinds ,we wont tell people like my sister and my hubbys family until we hit the 12 week mark it shouldnt be too hard - when i was pregnant with my son we didnt tell those people until i was 7 months pregnant!! (I didnt show till around then!) because we were having a few differculties with pregnancy and hubbys family had alot on there plate at the time. I rung my mum last night and shes over the moon and this morning when i did another test it started to hit hubby and he started jumping up and down with excitment
How bout you have you told anyone at all??? (apart from the thousands of ladies on oh baby!!lol ). What is the due date you have got???

I am naughty as we were keeping it a secret but have told a few people close to me, my 2 best friends- they are also pregnant, its funny cause they were my bridesmaids for our wedding earlier this year, and all of us were trying. Only one bridesmaid to go, my sis who is also TTC.
I told my sis as well.
I also told my head Chef at work - whos girlfriend is also pregnant, as I thought owing to the long hours I work should probably know, especially as I have been having waves of Nausea at work.
My friend sent me a link that works out your possible due date and going on my last cycle it is the 3rd of March    . Docs appointment is at 3:15 today so hopefully she'll confirm this and I will try to get a dating scan.

Trish I have a funny feeling i'm not as far along as I thought either. I guess it will all be confirmed on Friday but I have a sneaky suspicion...

I have been so bloated - really badly to the point that my mum exclaimed the other night "ooooohhhhh how exciting - your showing!!". I was like - no thats not baby mum that is all bloating but she is convinced now that it's twins cos I am showing early and have been feeling so tired and sick!!

Morning ladies

I am expecting my first much wanted baby after the assistance with fertility drugs on the 7th Feb 07.

Had a scan at nearly week 7 and saw the wee parasiste and a heartbeat of 107bpm

Meeting up with my midwife this Wednesday for the first time.

No morning sickness thankfully but frequent trip to the loo and sore boobs.

Hope your day is going well. At least its stopped raining.

Well I have had a sh*t of a week. I had my scan on Wednesday and only one that the lady could see, but it wouldn't move and it was at the bottom so i'm saying only one at this stage. I'm 8 weeks tomorrow. Which was just about on track with what my midwife thought. I have been so sick that I have been put on a drug to stop the vomiting, and to top it off I got the flu last week and haven't been able to move. Today is the first day i have been able to get up and do things - like the washing, we were down to our last 4 towels just nice. I am also able to be a t work today for the first time. I only work 3 days a week but Friday and Saturday there was no way in hell I was able to be there. The last time I got the flu was when i was just pregnant with Andrew so it must be a curse for me!!!!

well Ive got a midwife, Ive decided to go with the same one as last time, this is because its our second we will sort of know what to expect and they know us - even remembered us so that was good.
The one that got recommended to us took 3 days to get back to me! my midwife got back to me in 2 mins LOL

Have our first appointment sometime this week so will keep you all up to date

The whole midwife thing is tricky for me. I'm not sure what to expect of the midwife. She's sent me for a scan to get a EDD but I haven't met her yet and only spoken to her on the phone once. She hasn't rung me about an appointment or anything like that.

Another one that I spoke to wasn't going to see me until I was at least 12 weeks cos I could lose the baby so they thought there wasn't any point. I decided not to go with them.

I guess my question is, should I be having an appointment with my midwife and should I have had some blood tests by now?

A friend of mine is in her last year of training to be a mid wife, so she gave me heaps of info and told me what to ask and what to expect of a mid-wife.
She said although most midwives won't really begin to see mums until 12 - 15 weeks that most will organise a getting to know you appointment straight away.
This appointment is important as you can ask questions and find out if this is the mid wife you want to go through your pregnancy with you, so be persistant and ask for this appointment. And ask all the questions that are important to you!! Remember that you don't have to go with the 1st M.W on your list.
I am new at all this too so this is just the info from my friend. Hope it helps cause it really helped me

I've seen my midwive about 3 times already and i'm only 8 weeks. I have been quite ill and I had her with Andrew so that maybe why i've seen her so much. Did you end up getting a midwife Leish?? and one that you like??

I have already been asked when i'll be finishing work, i've guessed January sometime but know really knows at this stage. One thing I am now determinded to do is play in the end of year concert. A 2 hour plus blow (I play a brass instrument) and I think I can d it a 7 months pregnant. I have started back at the pool (I get free entry so I should use it), doing aqua classes in the morning and doing lengths before or after my shift at the pool.

My allday morning sickness is now under control with drugs.

Hope other Feb's are all doing well.

Glad to hear that the m/s is getting a bit better Becks.

I spoke to the midwife the other day and she said that she won't need to meet me till I am 12 weeks and that I should make an appointment with her then. I had to ask her if she had the results from my scan - she wasn't going to tell me about it. She probably just forgot.

Another one that I had left a message with to ring me back finally did so I am going to go and meet her but not till I am 10 weeks. So, I will make a decision about which one I will stay with after I have met both of them. The 10 week one sounds nicer on the phone than the other one. Oh well - will have to wait and see.

I so think being second time around it is easier to get a midwife. I did just go with the one I had with Andrew (she was great when I had Andrew). I see her again in 2 weeks time where I will have to go off and have another scan. I feel really bad with bugging her about the sickness but she did say it's her job and she wouldn't have it any other way.

I caved and rung my M?W in tears with the sickness on tuesday. At my last appt, she told me to see how the accupuncture studs went for a bit longer, and if it didn't get any better, or got to the no eating or drinking stage, that she would do something. I felt so bad and selfish for moaning, but it was so awful, I was crying in the afternoons and wishing I wasn't pregnant. Needless to sy, I so don't want to have any more babies ever. I can't even play with Jacob, the afternoons are so bad. Anyhow, she told me to take sea legs 12 hourly, and they are helping alot, although I am really starting to get past all of it by 4pm, and am back to wanting to die. I am eating so little, and drinking so little, that I m drining MYZONE to keep my vits up, (if I can keep it down) and am loosing weight. Hopefully only a few more weeks of this.... Sorry for the rant, I am just so over this already.

Had first scan today. We only get 2 at a stretch here, as we have no radiographers here, they come up from chch for 3 days at a time. Turns out I am only 11 weeks 5 days. not changing ticker, though, as sme thing happened with Jacob (plus, I so can't be bothered!)
Still crook as a dog, still never doing this again. Actually, we have been talking about contraception after baby, and I am going to get my tubes tied. I am unable to be on the pill, due to my history of depression (it makes me crazy as a fox) and do not trust IUD's (mum got preg with all of us x4 with them!)Rod getting snip as well....

Your still in that 2 weeks around the due date so I wouldn't worry too much, but a bummer thinking you are further along than you think. I'm seeing my MW again on Thursday and i'm a bit worried that she is going to send me away for another scan as I am so big and only 10 weeks. I seriously look like I am 4 months pregnant. My tummy is really hard as well so I know it's not just the left over fat and loose skin from Andrew. Oh well i'll find out on Thursday whats happening.

Trish i'm so feeling how you are feeling. It feels like if I don't get my mid afternoon sleep I am in bed early (think 7.30pm). I can feel the same thing with Andrew at times spec when he doesn't listen to me and I know he can hear me. DH has gone away for 3 days today so the next few days are going to be interesting.

Trish, somedays, I could just give Jacob away. Sometimes, I just swear if ONE more person tells me how sweet he is, I will give him to them. It sucks big time. I don't know how you cope at work, i can't even cope cooking at home...
I am seeing my M/W tomorrow, so it will be good to vent to her, she is wonderful.
As for FAT I have been in maternity clothes fullt ime since 7 weeks. And it is hard, not just flab. A girl at work is 20 weeks, and I am almost as big as her!! In fact we were out for morning tea today, and someone asked us if we were due at the same time. Crazy hormones almost made me cry......

Hey ladies. It looks by the posts on this page that you are all in the thick of the rough stuff at the moment. Jacobsmama, I have one of those cute creatures at my home like yours and my goodness some days I could advertise him on trademe for $1 reserve. It's really tough feeling awful and having an active toddler in the house. I love him lots, but I'd like a day off to lie on the couch and feel miserable and pregnant every once in a while. The Wiggles have become a close friend and I admit to parking him in front of the tv every once and a while.
Ah well, fingers crossed that you'll all be feeling better soon and complaining about people telling you that you look 2 months overdue already (like I have).

Thomas the Tank Engine is my friend on the days were Andrew drives me up the wall. He's at daycare most of the time so I can do my studies - which I am doing now just have to come on here first its my rule. I had someone ask me what it is like to have a baby at xmas time. I just laughed at them and said i'm due in Feb. I look huge at the moment and avoiding a scan till October.

LOL try being only 8.5 weeks and being asked in pumpkin patch how far you are "five or six months?"...OMG!!!! I knew i was showing already but.....
I so feel for you all with kiddies at home too - I feel exhausted and cant imagine having to look after someone when i get home - DH is learning fast to look after me! Big hugs all round to you guys - Im going to be an honorary member in here in case we do only go to 36 - 37 weeks (Feb bub!)

I may even be a January. Me and my MW have no idea when I am actually due we are just guessing at the moment from the first scan I had - which we think is wrong. If I have a low lying placenta (which is very likely) then i'm having a very late January baby - i'm choosing the birthdate.

My friend noticed it last night at band practise. She's getting all excited about this baby. I told her to go and make one with her hubby and she just laughed at me. Her hubby said they were having fun practising. We still have no idea exactly how far along I am. MW seems to think it is further along than the 13 weeks and I am possibly due at the beginning of Feb which would be really nice.

Ohhhh that's so nice that people can see it. Every time I talk to someone that knows, they glance at my tummy mid conversation to see if something is there. The worse time was when I was only like 5 weeks and had major bloat and everyone thought I was showing early!!

Has everyone got their scans booked. I think I have mine booked quite late. Going by the dates from the first scan i'll be 21 weeks, but I still think I am a bit further along than that. Got the movement thing going on now. It/they went mad when I was playing on the weekend (I play in a brass band) its was kinda nice, but also kinda annoying.

OK how do you pronouce you girls middle name??

I have once again been looking at the plain names. With a very unusual surname that involves having to spell it out to everyone it is best to have an easy first name. So my girls names are Sarah and Hayley and we haven't even thought of boys names. Probably do the same as last time once it comes out the name will be there when we look at it. We ar still doing thing middle name thing. We (DH and I) are quite happy for the girl to have the same middle name as me (Lee) same as my mum, but I know DH's mum would love to have her name as the middle name. I keep this thing going in my head she has her own daughter she can continue on that name there. So who knows. On a good front DH's brother got engaged so we will have a wedding to go to in about a year or 2 away - can't wait.

or
ka - si- a

but we will pronunce it the first way

I know what you mean about surnames! Im getting really sick of having to spell it out! Even my midwife still gets it wrong!!! GRRR

My MW is pretty good with mine, considering it is different from the last time I was with her.
I'm getting mega movement now, it sems to like to be awake and active when i'm getting ready for bed and in bed. I got a huge kick last night that I put pressure on that spot and got kicked again in the same spot. Nice to fell it from the outside. I know DH can't wait to be able to feel this one moving.

Hi all,
Im due on the 5th of feb and we are having a surpirse! Since it's our first we have no preference of gender which has been fun trying to pre-buy clothes etc. Who has already had their scan? It was so overwhelming seeing baby on the screen - i flet like a proud mother - very special
yes mummy_becks my baby always wants to start moving when i get into bed too! The midwofe said its because my dinner is still digesting and keeping baby awake but i just think it wants to be annoying

Only 6 days to go till we find out what flavour it s. So hope it will be nice and let us see. Trish your's is tomorrow, so have to tell us what your having straight after the scan.

I'm thinking of finishing up at the beginning of January. I only work part time - very part time being a limited full time student and with the holiday programme going on at my work and it being 5 weeks long I think I may give it up sooner rather than later. I'm also thinking that the parental tax credit is going to be better for us - but I have to ring IRD up, (can't wait to do that - how long will it take) to see what we can do for hubby see if we take the paid parental leave for a few weeks for hubby and the rest parental tax credit. We'll see........
