Hey just wondering if any of you other ladies are having problems with night sweats, The last few nights have been terrible, I go to bed every thing seems fine, I'm not feeling hot or anything and then later I wake up all sweaty, I've tried kicking the blanket off and just sleeping under the sheet but then I feel too cold. Is this a common problem and is there any thing I can do to stop it happening?  Between having to get up and pee every  few hours and a very active bub that often wakes me during the night I'm starting to feel very tired.

Yep I've had it a few times in both pregnancies - totally random and doesn't seem to be linked too much to the actual outside temperature.

Hope it is short lived for you. For me it usually only lasted a few nights at a time.

Also been getting it, not sure if it's the weather or what! Haven't found a solution to it yet, but will let you know if I do.

Yip it is common to get hot. You could try a fan to help cool the room - and you can turn it on and off as required, light sleepwear, cotton or silk sheets, a cold drink by your bed (just want you want) ... I know even after I had bubs I couldn't go to sleep in the hospital without a fan it was just too hot!

I had night sweats for the last few months of pregnancy and then for about 6 weeks after birth. Another lovely hormonal thing, happens during menopause too. I don't know the secret trick to prevent them though sorry! Hopefully you're lucky enough to just have them a couple of times.

i get this as well, some nights i wake up soaked and the sheets even get wet, its horrible. I have found that when i wake up sweaty it is usually when i have had a nightmare so i think it may be related to that for me.

I've been having this the last couple of nights too, I never even thought that it could be because of pregnancy

I've found my hands are getting sweaty at the moment too - they're not even hot or anything

Night sweats an accompanied nightmares are a sign of hypoglycemia so it could be your blood sugars. Could be that you've eaten something high in sugar during the day & you get low blood sugar at night. Try eating more protein to help regulate your blood sugar levels.

DH used to get it all the time. I can tell when during the day he's eaten something naughty cause he has massive night sweats.

It also might be worth mentioning this to your midwife.

I have had them since early pregnancy - I find they are worse when I wake up and need to go loo. Sometimes its so bad I have to sleep between towels and change the sheets once DH is up in the morning. Not looking forward to summer, I can see my fan being on 24/7

Wow, that's really interesting, I get both night sweats and nightmares so might have to watch my sugar intake - bit late for today as just had a yummy chocolatey trumpet

I thought I might have been getting them partly because I'm surrounded by a fortress of pillows, could it be something like that? Not that you probably can get rid of them as for me they're they're things helping me sleep...

I had this for the last 4 or so months of my pregnancy - even in the dead of winter. DH used to want to cuddle because he'd be cold (and have his electric blanket going) while I was lying there just under a sheet. The blood sugars thing is interesting - I had gestational diabetes. Otherwise I just thought it was a pregnancy hormone thing. It went away after the girls were born, although it took about 4 or so weeks.

My DH now controls his through diet & pills from a nathuropath, his unfortunately is a lifetime thing, but he watches how processed his food is. Ie no white bread or pastas. Basically he's low GI now if that helps with guidance of what to eat.

He can eat whittakers chocolate

I didnt get it during pregnancy but did for about 6 weeks after giving birth. It was gross, dont know how many times my sheets and pj's were washed.

Interesting about the sugars.. I do think mine was hormonal and I had heaps of water retention with PE so I think it was my bodies way of getting rid of it.

Hmmm very interesting, my DH used to suffer from them bad. Not so much these days, not sure why. but if they start up again i will no what to keep an eye out for.

Funny thing was the first time we ever slept in the same bed as each other he got them and the bed was saturated, and i thought OH GREAT A BED WETTER!!! LOL

Worse part was i had just recently given my previous "friend" the flick when i realised he wet my bed when he was intoxicated and passed out on my bed one day.........so you could imagine i was thinking NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!!!!
