I too would like to know, a couple of my friends who are having babies are doing this...
I think I would rather bassinet first so i can move bubs around more freely |

my girl went straight in the cat and we turned her so she had her feet to the sides and then then she not look so small and just put her at one end wish I had a pic be easier to show you. My first went straight to a cot as well. I alway's had a buggy/ carry cot during the day so I could still move them around the house during the day if needed plus I liked to air out their bed during the day. -------------

I suppose we would have a port-a-cot anyway for visiting and a monitor so we could hear what was happening if they aren't in the same room or would a bassinet save all these issues at once? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

This is my plan too. This way I won't have to worry about transitioning baby into the cot from the bassinette. Plus my house really isn't that big, so I can have bubs in the cot in my room during the day with the door open and I'd be able to hear them from all over the house. And if I want to take them elsewhere I have the pram. There is no family bassinet on either side of our families, cos we all went straight into cots. Can't be that bad cos we all turned out ok 
I don't plan on getting a portacot at this stage either. I don't really think I'll go visiting that much when bubs is little, and once they are bigger, they can sleep on a couch cushion or something on the floor. Plus my folks are the most likely place we'd stay overnight, and they still have my little sister's cot. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

we had bassinette over the cot for a few months then the cot.. he ended up ;like this when he went into the cot..

Yep we went straight into a cot with Jackson and its been fine. His room is right next to ours so getting up in the night isnt a problem except for feeling like Im a walking zombe lol!! I dont know how you feed a baby in your room, Im sure its doable but it must be uncomfy?! And difficult not waking your DH or DP?
We have a hammock downstairs for during the day, but for the most part he sleeps in his cot. He does look tiny and it was weird at the beginning but we're used to it now  ------------- Our Angel July 08  Gone but not forgotten
And to complete our family, our princess has arrived

We did have a bassinet for dd at first, it was lent to us. but she spent most of the time in bed with us 
And during the day she spent was in her rocker downstairs with us. This one will be going straight into the cot in our room . I owuldn't personally buy one but if you can borrow |

straight into the cot and in their own room for both boys! we lived in a tiny house and there was no room for even a bassinet in our room. My midwife also said it was best for my sleep too, as I tried to sleep in the room with them and woke to every snuffle and ended up suffering from such a lack of sleep!

All of mine went straight into cots, Maya was in our room, the gremlins in their own room and I slept in lil miss' room for the first few months. I did end up getting a hammock for lil miss when she was about a month old tho as she had reflux and it helped to settle her. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I brought a lovely cariboo bassinet for Isabella. But she has reflux and screamed everytime i tried to put her in it. She never slept in it once. She loved her cot tho. Friends put twins straight into the cot sleeping sideways. We planned on putting this one straight into her cot but mum decided to get us a cariboo bassinet from my brothers for my baby shower lol. She's good like that, I was even there when she told one of them that they owed her $50 for the bassinet he bought me lol. Thanks Ladies, I think we'll probably go straight to cot. Although I've seem somewhere that you can get bassinet attachments for a cot ... has anyone used them? Can recommend a good one?

We put both of ours straight into the cot as well, with a safeTsleep and Angelcare movement monitor. The great thing about this was no worrying about having to transition them into the cot when they got too big for a bassinett.
Reflux babies have issues with stomach acids coming back up when they are lying down, so are often more settled in a more upright position. I put phone books under one end of our cot legs for the eldest who had reflux and also for our youngest who was a very windy baby.. The slight angle helps the wind come out.. |

We have the cariboo gentle motions bassinet that goes inside the cot so just clips in you can raise or lower it as needed to get extra swing You can put a cushion of some sort under the bassinet mattress as well if your not using the monitor I only use mine as she sleeps so long and is a tummy sleeper and wanted it for piece of mind. But if you are using a cariboo then you can put the phone books under the cot legs anyways. I am looking at transitioning DD soon just waiting for that cold snap to go and to get a piece of wood to put over the slats on the cot for her monitor. I figure what I'll do is raise the cot back up to the bassinet level and if she has a fuss then put the cariboo back in but just have it sit on the cot mattress as we don't swing it anymore she sleeps fairly easy ------------- http://www.myfitnesspal.com/weight-loss-ticker">

Yes what pepsi said. She couldnt lay flat. I tried the phone books under the bassinet to but she just didnt like it. The cot was fine tho :)
