Has anyone been prescribed clomiphene to help with low progesterone levels rather than to help them ovulate? I am definitely ovulating, but my CD 21 progesterone levels came back at only 8.7 and my LP is too short (only 9 days last month). Started taking 100mg of B6 this month so when AF arrives in the next few days will be interesting to see if that has helped lengthen my LP or not.

Any suggestions, advice welcome

my clomid is $15, usually get a 2-3 month supply, though my g.p wouldnt prescribe it, only through a specialist. I know that clomid can also help with quality of eggs but I dont know bout low prog, thought you would have progesterone pessaries rather than clomid. All the best

I went to my GP for irregular periods and after a scan and blood tests and an appt with a specialist they diagnosed polycystic ovaries. My 21 day progesterone was really low so they didn't think I was actually ovulating. Anyway, the specialist put me on Metformin, which is actually a diabeties drug but it was discovered by accident really that it helped with getting ovulation to happen. I was extremely lucky as after being on the Metformin for only about 3 weeks I got pregnant! The specialist said that if that didn't work after 6 months she would of put me on clomid. The cost was about $180 for the appt and $15 for the pills.

Goodluck.

thanks Maisey and its so cool that worked for you. I am definitely ovulating...yay for that. My GP said she thinks we may have missed the surge and has suggested that this month I go at CD18 and then every couple of days after that to see where my progesterone surge is. I just got AF this month but am happy as because my LP was 12 days this month and not 9 so that's a huge improvement.

Thats great you are ovulating. Have you tried Vitex tablets? It didn't work for me but alot of girls have had sucess with it. I think it is meant to regulate your cycle etc.
