I want to buy DH a couple of board games for Xmas as I thought it would be a cool idea to take some up North on our campervan holiday. Plus he's a big fan of staying home and not spending money lol. So we spend a lot of time home in the evenings playing yahtzee, which I love but am bored to death of!
Any suggestions? I'm preferably looking for games that are multi player but can be played by just 2 people as well.

Oh we love board games!
My Favourites are:
Pictionary
Cranium
Boulderdash
Scatergories
even a good old game of Scrabble :P
Although most of those are more group games.....umm
I love http://www.garphill.com/linwood - linwood which is a great group game as well as just for DH and I.
Another of our favourite games we play together is Mancala (sp??) although that is just a 2 player game.
Ummm... mind has gone blank. I am sure there are heaps of other good ones.

DP and I love playing board games, scrabble is our favourite at the moment. Monopoly is fun too. But we have to stop playing every few weeks because some disagreement over rules/dirty cheating.

Pictionary, Cranium, Scattergories, Digbatts, Trivial Persuit are all favs in our house.
DH also loves a good game of chess or backgammon.
And cards....500 etc...

Mancala - yes! And it's good for kids too!
Scrabble is a favourite or UpWord.
Monopoly - I believe the instructions now tell you how to play a "fast game".
Pictionary, Game of Life... Connect 4, Uno.
If you go to the warehouse you can get packs of like 20 games... Think they're about $50 and it's just a collection.
What about card games? You could play Poker if you get some chips - you could even make it kinda fun once kids go to bed , otherwise there is last card, fish, snap, Presidents and Assholes... Lots to do with cards.

We love Rummikub here too... and you can get "rummy-o" (exactly the same) in a cool tin from the Warehouse for $20. also good cos can play with only 2 people.
For bigger groups, I love Rapidough - it's like pictionary, but with playdough.... so much fun and gets so competitive!

We play Yahtzee when we go camping.. no huge box packaging, and is fine with only 2 people which is always helpful (some games aren't much fun unless you have 4 or more) :)
Also, Operation is a fun game :)

Rummikub is a favourite here.
I love Cranium too but you need more than 2 players, although the franchise might have released a 2-player game by now so it's worth checking.

I love Cranium, Balderdash and Trivial Pursuit.
The inlaws have this awesome game called Psychologizer but they don't make it any more. It gives the player a scenario, and then four ways in which the person could react to the scenario. The other players have to say what they think the person would do, and then you get to see what the player thinks they would do.
It's interesting to see the differences between how you think you'd react, and how others think you'd react. Can lead to some heated debate!
Sorry, that wasn't very helpful was it?!?

ooh pretty much all of the above, if you are going to go for pictionary there is a really cool one out now pictionary man, comes with a man and a ball and you draw on them, ooh and the new trivial pursuit with the electronic questions is really cool you can download your own categories and everything.
I love boardgames!!!

Ohhhh my sis has this really cool one, can't remember what it's called though. You have this plastic disk container thing, and it shows one word through a little window. You have to describe what it is without saying the word, and your team mates have to guess it. Once they guess it, you click the plastic disk thing and another word shows up, and you pass it to the other team. There's a timer thing going at the same time, so the team that is holding the disk when the timer goes off loses. The other team gets to move ahead on the board.
Anyone know what I'm talking about? Such a fun game.

Ticket to ride or Sorry are good games.
They can be played with lots of people or just 2. DH and I play them quite often.
There is an excellent game shop: All Aboard Games & Toy Shop in Featherston, who are very helpful and source lots of different games as well as the old favourites.
