Hi

My 13 month old is really keen on walking and loves to be outside but I just can't find shoes to fit him. He has a really thick foot ( I think the official term is high instep) and by the time I get a shoe high enough to get his foot in it is so big it falls off.   I really want some shoes that are good for his feet, flexible etc but I just can't find any.

Does anyone have any experience with this and have any recommendations?

Thanks

I walks would suit though wouldnt they? They have velcro across the top so they would be adjustable, they are also super scrumptiously soft leather uppers so would mould to fit his foot.

Thanks for the suggestion.   I had expected I walks to fit but they wouldn't go on in the shop today we couldn't get enough of his foot past the opening. Admittedly they were the 8th pair we tried and he had stopped playing along with it. I might go and try them first another day.

Sounds like it might be worth going to a speciality kids shoe shop and getting him fitted properly. Not sure where you live, but there are a few around

I'm in Dunedin, there aren't any around here. I am going to Rotorua and Tauranga this weekend, does anyone know of any specialist children's shoe shops there?

If you're wiling to make a detour they have a shop in Hamilton.

However you can shop online and send them a the dimensions of each foot.

I've never used them but might be what you want.

thanks, I went for some basic velcro sandals in the end, they velcro over the thick part of his foot. He hates them though.

Clarks are really good, but they tend to be 'expensive'.........by Kiwi standards anyway. LOL

We used to live in the UK and both boys have really wide feet, which makes shopping in say the Warehouse an impossibility but I'd rather pay good money and know that the shoes fit properly than try and get things on the cheap. DP has had heaps of issues with his feet growing up so we want to make sure that their feet are taken care of.
