I am very excited about my Wigglebums order which will be arriving soon (I took advantage of their closing down sale ). I know that nappies need to be prewashed to reach/achieve best absorbency. Apologies if this is a really dumb question - does everything need to be washed a couple of times or just the inserts?
TIA

Not a dumb question at all! Just hemp/bamboo inserts unless you know they have prewashed them, some brands (eg DesignerBums) they prewash them so they're already pretty absorbent. Not sure whether the Wigglebums ones are prewashed or not.

(For making hemp/mf inserts, I found I had to prewash the hemp a few times before overlocking them together or it all got misshapen, so the ones I'm putting together for you will be good to go as soon as you get them )

AFAIK cotton or microfibre inserts are absorbent straight away and don't need prewashing.

Cool, thank you. Weegee you are a .
Claire was all out of inserts when I got around to ordering so for now I'll be using our cotton flat nappies as inserts which have already been washed about a million times.
Thank you for the inserts you're doing too. Yay! So as soon as they get here they can have a wash and I can start using them (assuming they fit, won't be far off if they don't though).

Im a bit naughty and dont pre wash anything before i put them on B! but the inserts do get more absorbany with washing especially bamboo ones which I find mega absorbant and trim. sometimes new pockets will need prewashing if it hasnt already been done before sewing to get rid of the dressing that is on the microfleece.

Do you sew?  I ordered far too much hemp when I made my inserts.  I'm going to list it on trademe one day (I've been saying that for the past 5 months)
