ive finally decided on my next tattoo and its going to go around my ankle and down over my foot. Everyone keeps telling me how much its gonna hurt, Ive got tattoos already but does the foot really hurt more than other places?????
its only going to be a thin tattoo, I want it to be feminane and dainty but I work in a law firm (not a lawyer), normally I wear pants but do you think its to unprofessional? All my other tattoos are covered up

My tattoo goes below the ankle joint and the colour has stayed really well and its over 10 years old.

I wear trousers to work to cover it up and haven't had any problems.

I can't remember if it hurt more than other tattoo's as it was a long time ago and my memory isn't what it used to be

I have one on my foot and yes it hurts more than other places (have hip, chest, arm and shoulder as well). There's not a lot of fat or anything under the skin on your feet!! As for the professional thing...I work in an insurance office, and worked in a law office for 9 years prior, and no-one ever said anything in summer if I wore sandals. I do need to get it recoloured though...probably more to do with the tattooist than anything else.

I have one on the inside ankle bone, and it didnt really hurt any more. Nothing unbearable anyway. Mine hasnt faded too bad, just not as defined as it once was

I personally think that with this day and age tattoos aren't what they used to be and you can always cover it up if you have any problems.

I don't have one there but I have one on my ribs and down my side and while I found straight on the bone worse than the fatty bits its still bearable.

You will have to show us a pic when it is done!

I've got a tattoo on the inside of my wrist and also on my foot close to my toes - i must admit for me the tattoo on my foot was alot more painful than the one on my wrist, especially when the needle would go over a bone.

Its faded a wee bit as well but I'm too chicken to go and get it redone! im just a wuss now.   I also used to work in a corporate office after I had it done and like minik8e, no one ever said anything when I wore shoes which would show it.

im covered in them and am training to be a medical research scientist. lol. i dont think it makes too much difference anymore. i have my sleeve done as well as my lower back and a few other random ones but if i need to i can cover them all up. if you do get it done in summer make sure you are going to be able to keep it out of the sun or it will fade ridiculously fast. i would definitly try do it at a time when its not gonna get rubbed though. i have tattooes under my arm and armpit which was quite painful but the one that goes over my colorbone was fine so not sure how different that would be from ankle. i have the pointy bit of my elbow done too which hurt like buggery. lol. just remember it is short term so even if it hurts heaps it only lasts while the needle is actually in there. lol

I wouldn't worry about it being 'unprofessional' - tattoos are so much more accepted these days than they were in the past.

I have tats on my neck, lower back, wrist and and in the process of getting a sleeve. My mum has both her feet (both sides) done and she said it only hurt when the tattoo was being done right on the bone. She has had to have the colour touched up a few times already and they're probably only 2 years old max. It has ALOT to do with the artist but also some peoples skin will hold ink alot better than others. Also makes a huge difference how you look after the tattoo while it is healing.

Hehe Monikah I think I'm having under my arm and elbow done this weekend... eek!!

At the end of the day, IMO if you can go through childbirth, you can handle tattoos almost anywhere!
