Hi - we like to go to cafes in central auckland and i am a bit over the kid friendly ones that we use and was just hoping if anyone can tell me of some new ones.

We like The Library in Onehunga, Luscious in Onehunga, Columbus in Dom Rd, Sierra in Balmoral and Mt Eden and some others that i cant think of.

cheers
Leonie

Will be interested to hear your opinion on Bang Bang - I have been there twice now, and have found it AWFUL both times. Might have just been a bad day for them, but will be curious to see what someone else thinks!

Frolic on Manukau Rd is good, altho haven't been for a while. And we love McCafe at McDs Greenlane too - they have a great playground and you can get a decent coffee.

And I know it's not strictly Auckland, but we went to Ascension Vineyard in Matakana for lunch last Fri and they have an awesome set up for kids - blocks, books, toys... it kept them entertained for the entire duration of our rather long, lazy lunch.

We have been to Occam in Grey Lynn - no toys or anything, but highchairs and friendly towards little ones. Also Okra on Sandringham Rd has books and colouring stuff for littlies, but its quite small so can feel a bit crowded.

Fusion in Ponsonby is good. Haven't been there for a while but it has a sandpit.

Found this link that might be helpful, although is abit dated:

The Ark Cafe on Manukau Road used to be good but I think they're under new ownership so not sure if it's still child friendly.

Kings Plantbarn on Shore Road Remers is awesome, plenty of parking & has an outside & inside play area for kiddiewinks AND fits a dble buggy inside!

Would be interested to hear whether your recommended cafe's have nough room for a dble buggy.

SimSam: Okra's SO nice isn't it, unfortuntaely we can't fit inside with the buggy but on nice days I go their for coffee and sit out on the street side tables.

On the shore, http://www.dutchdelight.co.nz - Dutch Delight    in Birkenhead (pancake place) has an entire separate playroom for kiddies with toys, books, colouring in stuff, dvds, and if you call and arrange first if there is a group of you they will arrange a babysitter. Food is really good too.

Well you gals will be glad to know that BANG BANG is offically CLOSED!!!!! we turned up and they have chinese newspaper all over the windows... we ended up at a cafe on 121 Ponsonby road, the one with a snadpit... not sure if the same one recomended above and the coffee and food was divine. they also had several highchairs available

Cafe 121 used to be Atomic think - I forgot about that one! (does it have a sandpit out back in a courtyard?)

I am not at all suprised that Bang Bang has closed - it was a disaster as far as I was concerned. The original owners were really nice (I emailed them to complain after my first visit but they had already sold it)....so it seems a shame that the "concept" hasnt worked.
