Can someone please give me their definition of "the niggles"?
I've been getting some pretty nasty, what I would call "period pains" along with some "ovulating pains" and "pinches" right up inside. I've never been really sure if I got Braxton Hicks contractions as I can't find anything to tell me what these actually feel like. I get a rock hard tummy all over, then "electric tingles" across the top of my bump (only the top tho). Are these BH? Nothing is regular at all and I've not had any "show" so I'm not panicking at all - just would be nice to know what the hey is going on in there  ------------- http://lilypie.com">

The rock hard tummy, with "electric tingles" sound like BH...

| from memory my midwife said if its across the top its BH but the period pain is how I felt a few days before I had Kobe, I didnt actually realise but I was dialating and when I went into hospital was already 3cm and they said thats what the period pain would have been for me. I remember telling my friend that if it wasnt for being pregnant I was sure I was getting my period, it was just that yucky achy feeling |

Gosh ...its only been 8 months since I had Zaara but cant remember what the contractions felt like. Yes like period pain but 10 times stronger. I remember just being in pain....my contractions were 1 min apart (tho I was only 3cm)....and then 5 min...and then 10min and then 1 min apart.....for 36 hours. After my epi...I could tell that I was having contractions because my tummy would get all tight.....

LOL That's ok Roksana. I'm not expecting contractions just yet as I still have a few weeks to go, just curious is all 
It's funny you should say that about not remembering what they felt like, at our last antenatal class we had a visit from a lady who had a 7 week old baby and even she said she couldn't remember!
I guess that when you hold that baby in your arms for the very first time all the nasties doesn't matter anymore and like the McDonalds ad it doesn't need to be remembered so they throw it away lol ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Hi Toni,
It sounds like your bubs has started doing practise runs for the main event - they can do this for three or four weeks before they decide to come out and say hi. People kept telling me that I would know when I was in actual labour when it happened...and I didn't really believe them...but, they were right, when the real time came, there was no slowing down, no stopping, sleeping, resting and it was full on 'the business'. I know it's really hard, but if you can give the walks a rest, have as much sleep and rest as you possibly can and rest up for the main event - it will be a lot better than going into it exhausted from the worry and walks. Savour your last few days/weeks with the hubby...it's gonna be the three of you REALLY soon. Best wishes, Maree ------------- |

Seriously though - The way I look at it is that being pregnant is so very special and that we should savour every second as it's all over so soon (well it feels like it for me) and who knows if it will ever happen again. LOL Toni - I don't know if the heartburn, indigestion, insomnia and constant need to pee (along with reduced immunity so we pick up every cold passing through the neighbourhood) are 'special' or need savouring...however, the alone time with hubby before it becomes the three of you, and even alone time with yourself are really special. If you have a bathtub you can hoist yourself out of, now is the perfect time for bubble baths, reading gossipy magazines and relaxing. You probably won't miss the nudges so much because they will be replaced with the bestest gurgles, giggles, smiles and hand waiverings. I dare say your mum is just bursting to get her grandma mittens on - my MIL was terribly impatient in the last two-three weeks before Andrew appeared. ------------- |

I'm a bit of a weirdo, but I did miss the kicks and nudges from my baby after I had her! Even though, as you say Maree, they were replaced with a whole raft of even better interactions. Lol..Toni....its true, once you see your bubs face, you hold them, you smell them and you hear them....every thing else becomes a distant memory. You'll know what I mean in two weeks (or so). 
Mind you this is not to say that some people dont have hard time after.....but for me....I really cant remember the pain exactly!! I just remember it being really painful. And like every one...I do miss her being inside me....I wont trade her for the world, I wont trade the simple little smile that makes my day...but having her inside was special!!! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Relax? what's that? Our house at the moment is The Waltons meets The Osbornes  (still waiting for Mum & Dad to move into their new house-2 weeks away was the latest date). I'm just looking forward to finishing work this friday and spending the days at home ALL ALONE whilst everyone is at work and maybe go visiting a few mates 
Walking? Who said anything about walking? It's FREEZING out there! lol I know people have said it's the best way to prepare your body for labour etc, but after 8 hours at work I seriously can't be arsed ------------- http://lilypie.com">
