At the end of my ML I was expected to go back full time and travel at a days notice for weeks at a time......with a little one I don't think so! plus DH is away all the time with his job so it would never of worked so I am now a SAHM and I LOVE it!

Strictly speaking, I'm a journalist, but working as part of a small team I've picked up lots of other useful (and sometimes obscure!) skills along the way. I my job - like lilfatty said, I wouldn't choose to take time away from my kids to do something I didn't enjoy.

I'm a SAHM. I my job!!!

Before Callum I was a kindy/nursery teacher and nanny but I'm not qualified (I was going to be an accountant once ) so one day I would like to go back to school and get the paperwork so I can teach when I come back home and the kids (that I haven't had yet) are all at school.

That's the plan anyway!

I give away money

I work with scholarships, and I love, love, love it. I get to work with some lovely lovely sponsors who are nice enough to be giving away their own cash to help others out, and I get to give some pretty awesome people a real hand. It would be hard not to like (although it's hard work, too).

I'm a SAHM, and I enjoy it most days.

Before I was pregnant with Sam I was an office temp/junior and I worked in a deli for about four years before that.   Then I did a years worth of ECE training, but I think when this baby is born and I'm ready, I might do some study and become some sort of counsellor for women who have been in abusive relationships.

renee you would be awesome at that!

i agree MP..i never knew you were a chef or baker:)

I am a SAHM atm.. and was going to work in between babies but then it didnt work out that way.. I love being with Ethan but i need more ideally I;d work two days a week..if I could earn what DH earns we would split being at home but that won't really work for his job..he's a great house husband:)

I was an ECE (and primary) trained teacher.. but my heart isnt in it anymore.. maybe with th nursery children but yeah since I've had E i think that fufilled my caring needs:) so when i go back to work i expect i will move more into special needs/gifted kids or social work.

I am working as a receptionist at the moment and I hate it. I used to be a PA which I loved at first, heaps of variety and the like. But eventually I got tired of doing stuff for other people that I felt they could do themselves!

Before that I worked as a chef, which I enjoyed but didn't have the commitment for the long hours and lack of social life.

I'm a trained teacher, although haven't ever worked as graduated 2 weeks before Jack was born. Going back next year though.

Atm I'm a SAHM and work 2 days as a deeds clerk at a law firm and clean some houses for extra cash. I hate my jobs because they're boring, repetitive and by no means let me use my brain, but they pay the bills for now.

can't wait to go back out teaching, I don't think I could be a full time SAHM too, the most time I've taken off work was about 4 weeks for each kid I think and I was dying to go back and get them in DC

Im a SAHM mainly, but I do several things part timeish/casual/freelance

#1
I work for Michael Hill Jewellers, been there for 6 years, I am now just a casual, mainly doing office, but have just picked up a few shifts "on the floor" for christmas/new year, which is what I did before Jake came along. I love working for MHJ and can honestly not imagine working anywhere else! They slot in around me and the kids and childcare, and at the same time make me feel like a valued and valuable employee...

#2
I work as a breastfeeding counsellor and programme administrator , for our PHO, training mums to counsel other mums, and counselling mums, running a support group, "advocating" for BF mums, Going to boring meetings and having input (which i guess is important!),liasing with midwives etc

#3
Writer... I have alot of work, I hope to get some published n a freelance basis, I already publish a 36 page newsletter for Parents Centre, to be fair I don't write all of it, but I do do alot of it, including writing a parenting coloumn and a breastfeeding coloumn. I am planning to submit some of my work to some people in the new year and see how it goes....

#4
Company director
Lol we own a company and while I do nothing at all,I have shares, so have a title, lolololol

Before I worked at MHJ I was a chef, loved the work, hated the hours. When I met Rod, I knew he was "the man" who could make me jack in my whites for a "day job".

I am contemplating studying in the next few years, probably midwifery with the view to doing Lactation Consultation, I already have some CERPS towards this withthe trainign I had to do to get my BF job.

We assist the unemployed (on the Dole and parenting payments) back into work. It has its moments and the type of people we wok with can have its moments but I love my job, every day is a challenge. I have a Diploma in Human Resource Management so Im hoping to specialise one day.

Now a SAHM which I love and hoping I can for as long as possible

Hi Andriea, just read that you are also a pilot. Have you had any problems with CAA and your medical with your pregnancies? They have just revoked mine as they said they are bringing NZ inline with ICAO, which means i can't fly at all in the first trimester (im 10.5wks), only as or with a co-pilot in second, and not at all in the third. Which was a real pain as we have only just moved up to Auckland and started new job, so had to leave. I was gutted as I understood previously that I could fly until 3rd trim, and know plenty of other females who have :-(

So I'm now a housewife (and not a very good one at that!) and I suppose I will be a SAHM until i decide to get renewals done to go back flying. haha i shouldn't be complaining really, hubby flies transtasman and spends 4-5 nights away each week - so I should just treat it like a nice long break, and tag along on some of his trips now i have the time ;-)

Posted By: Andriea
Date Posted: 11 November 2009 at 3:47pm
hey, with my last pregnancy all was good, couldnt fly first tri but could in 2nd then they extended it till 34 weeks. This time round I had some bleeding so it was revoked completely . Another friend whos flying for eagle could only fly 2nd trimester as well.

Who do you fly for?

Im PM'd you....don't want to bore all these other ladies with aviation BS! Do you know the reason why can't fly 1st trim? Is it to do with the risk of MC and incapacitation or something? CAA were pretty vague about it all.
