Jude has sharp white bits coming through his top gum. Now I know that babies can get teeth this early but isn't it usually the bottom two that come in first?

He is drooling a lot and likes to gnaw on my finger but I don't really think it's teething causing that, more developmental mouthing and gumming things.

So, what are these things that look like teeth coming down? Are they just sharp, hard bits of gum do you think? Not worried about it, just curious.

I went to a plunket PEPE course recently and they said that it isn't always the bottom front teeth that come through first, and that any tooth can come through at any time.

It sounds like teeth to me, you could talk to your doctor or plunket nurse just to be sure.

The gums do start off getting bumpy ages before the teeth come through. They can come through so slowly and then eventually you'll be able to see the tip of the tooth underneath a thin layer of gum and then pop it'll be through. They can come in any order.

Could well be teeth. Even if they're just moving around.

Hannah got all 4 first molars through before she got her second lot of bottom teeth (the two either side of the front ones).

Brennan had white bumpy top gums since about 3mths, he got one bottom tooth at 7mths, and has just started cutting the top two.
