Since Jackson was 10 weeks (now 12 weeks) he all of a sudden started to hate having a bath and shower. He would scream the entire time from clothes off to clothes back on. And I mean that high pitched 'something is wrong' kinda scream/cry. We at first thought it was cos he was over tired as usually he LOVES having a bath and/or shower. So we decided to bath him earlier in the night (7pm instead of 8pm) but this hasn’t changed anything or the screaming. He has a bath or shower every second day and alternative i.e Monday - bath, Wednesday - Shower, Friday - Bath, Sunday -Shower etc. BTW shower is with us, usually DH.
Anyways, today when I took him to get weighed I took his clothes off for a naked weight and when I put him on the scales he started that weird high pitched screaming and crying the second I let him go! Totally unexpected and not his normal behaviour when he’s naked.
So Im thinking its a fear of being naked and not cuddled/held? Any thoughts on how we can rectify this? I want my bath loving baby back. I don’t like seeing my little man upset, let alone upset from being naked!
Advice greatly appreciated!

Do you still bath him in the baby bath? Do you put a cloth on his chest so he feels clothed?

Yep he is still bathed in the baby bath (Bath/change table combo) and we have just started putting the face cloth on him to ease the crying and screaming. Which more often than not doesnt work cos he is so worked up

Oh dear, poor Jackson
Do you have any of those singlets with the little holes in them? If you do maybe bath him in one of those and see how he is?
I know, its a random suggestion lol, but it might work

My youngest is just the same, it has all been a bit bizarre as she too loved the bath in the first few weeks. Our only solution has been to wash her far less often to minimise the upset, and if we shower her the screaming doesn't start until a bit later we've discovered, but is usually at full tilt by the time she is getting dressed again.

Does he have a dummy? use that before the bath and keep it in during the bath?
Other than that, is the water warm enough? Some babies like warmer baths than what they recommend (Ava cries if its not quite warm).
just keeping bathing/showering him though and giving him some nakey time. I know you don't want to hear him scream but it's probably a phase and you don't want to take away the bathing etc as he may get a bit funny when reintroduced. Also more nakey time away from bathing/showering so he doesn't associate it with a wash?
Sorry thats probably not at all helpful, but it sounds horrible for you anyway.

Thanks everyone great ideas!! We had a bath tonight (which I was dreading) and we kinda combined a few of your ideas together. We lightly wrapped him in one of his wraps and its was a bit touch and go to start with and we could see the big lip thing happening but we just kept talking to him a bit more than usual and reassuring him it was ok and he came around The best bath time we've had in 3 weeks
So we will keep doing that until he is all good again Yay!!!
Oh good idea Emz. I think I will start doing more nakey time away from the bath.
