does anyone stalk these? Just been on a thread where a mum wanted to start her 4 month old baby on solids. And there are parents advocating "mum's know best", "just give babies a wee bit to fill them up" from 6 weeks!!! one woman said her mother started from 3 weeks! Just unbelieveable that people can give that kind of adivce "never hurts them".."don't believe plunket" - has left me dumbfounded.

Yikes I think I often take for granted how knowledgable and generally full of common sense the OB community is! At least you know if you ask a question here, you'll end up with good accurate information.

nah dont stalk them but josh was on solids from 4 months as thats what was on the jars when he was that age. I know DP was on solids (a teaspoon of pureed apple once a day from 3 weeks) and my plunket book is full of comments from 6 weeks saying i was on baby rice and apple to fill me up so i dont really think the advice is all that bad or shocking.

Yeah Jake was on solids by 3 months with Plunkets support and both me and DP were early starters too according to our Plunket books.

Hey I dont really raed the trademe boards. I did attend a parents centre moving and munching course and they have now changed the earliest age to start solids back to 4months, that is as long as the baby is ready. So they are techinically not giving bad advice, however 3 weeks does sound too early

Oh, it wasn't the four month thing that i thought was crap - it was the 6 week and 3 week. Four month - i think is okay, IF baby is ready

6 weeks geez!!
We started Caden on a teeny bit of baby rice at 4 months, but not before, and he didnt have proper solids until he was around 5 1/2 months I think.
6 weeks is FAR too young!

i always check out TM message boards. However from reading posts on there i find people purposely write stuff to stir up a fight. I ignore things on there.
I love the recipe section though
