You have to go in and do the first blood test, then you drink the glucose drink (apparently it's a different one for the first one), after one hour do the second blood test and after another hour to the last blood test.
I recommend you take a good book!
Good luck!

I've done the 2 hour glucose tolerance test LOADS. They think that because I'm overweight I should instantly have diabetes. Last pregnancy I did it three times, this pregnancy I am booked in for my second one next week. For the record, I have no family history and have never had a positive (or even abnormal) result from this test.
OKay - take a book for this test because you will have two hours of sitting around. They start by taking a fasting blood test (take blood after you have fasted for about 12 hours/overnight), then they give you a glucose saturated drink which is usually a sickly sweet lemonade drink. You need to drink it within 5 minutes and they take your blood again after 60 minutes. You get to sit around and wait for another 60 minutes and they take your blood again. Then you get to leave and go and get breakfast. YAY.

The one hour test is pretty routine at 28 weeks, I only skipped to the GTT because glucose popped up early on one of my tests so my doctor figured I may as well cut to the chase.
I'm doing the routine one hour this week when I get off my butt and go do it!

Dont worry Vanessa, its not that bad just more boring. The drink is a bit sickly and you have to drink it reasonably quickly but not skull it back or anything then you just sit and wait. If possible dont take Jack with you cos sometimes you feel a bit blah and its hard to run around after a toddler to. Take a good book or even try to have a sleep. Where are you going to do it? St Georges have really comfy lazyboys and a seperate room for you to spend the two hours in so I would recommend there if you have to. Think of it as a morning to yourself.
