Had my last massage from my package with http://www.bellamama.co.nz - Bella Mama today, and it was pure bliss as always.
I had some work done on my acupressure points, to help prepare my body for labour, and also had a chat after my massage to the acupuncture practitioner in the same complex.
She recommended this website for me to read, and so I thought I would pass the link on:
http://acupressure.rhizome.net.nz - acupressure.rhizome.net.nz
I also found this section very interesting:
http://http://acupuncture.rhizome.net.nz/acupressure/induce.aspx - http://acupuncture.rhizome.net.nz/acupressure/induce.aspx
I am likely to use acupressure *in* labour as well, and there is a lot of good information about that on the same website as above - as it fits in with my feelings about natural therapies and pain relief etc.
If Erin is late, and only then, I will be seeing the aforementioned acupuncture therapist that I talked to today - as from her experience the acupuncture is more effective than acupressure in actually starting labour, and would be split into two treatments, the first on one day and the second two days later (so a Wednesday, and then a Friday for example).
It took a lot of thinking, reading, and meditation almost, to get over my feelings of hesitation towards acupuncture - and I do realise it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Very cool idea - acupressure can also offer a decrease in nausea and vomiting with no side effects for those in the first few months of pregnancy too.I remember using acupressure points when I had migraines and it helped a lot.
Some midwives collectives, such as Maternity Associates in Mairangi Bay have accupuncturists they work with and recommend to expectant mums.
Given the number of medications and 'mainstream' remedies that are unavailable during pregnancy, acupressure and acupuncture seem a really good alternative (although it's funny calling something that has been used effectively for thousands of years not mainstream).
I'd be interested if anyone else on the forum has used or is intending to try it....

I use accupuncture, and reccomend it. I current;y have 2 studs in my ear to hold the mornign sickness off a bit, and they seem to work. While it is not gone, it is much less than it was. Good luck.
