so we are at the point where if i don't get a part time job, we are never going to get anywhere LOL
i already do housecleaning for one lady, so thought it would be the easiest 'job' to get then i can work in my own time and still be able to do school activities with jack etc
so i've made up a flyer and am going to do a mail drop.....what do you think? do i need to change/add/delete anything?? if you got this in the letterbox, would you read it or just throw it away?
it has a picture on the top and bottom just to grab attention and make it pretty
thanks!
Are you tired of spending all your spare time cleaning the house?? Wouldn’t you rather be relaxing doing the things you enjoy?? Then you need me....
*THE CLEANING FAIRY*
All those mundane housecleaning jobs done weekly, or fortnightly from $20, depending on the size of your house.

I think it is a great idea, I've never had a flyer like that through my letterbox and for $20 would certainly consider it.

I wish you were in Auckland.
I think I may be temped to change the from $20 to see how reasonable & affordable my rates are. or something like that. As most would think you will charge $20 & may get put off if what they want is around $40.
It will also give you a bit of flexibility to up prices when needed.
A friend of mine does cleaning for a lady $40 for the morning & then got a couple more jobs through word of mouth from that lady.
Good luck with it...also why not approach local daycare's or kindys they may be willing to pay for cleaning....worth a shot

The flipside of that Jazzy is that I would have presumed a *cleaning fairy* was way more than that, and so if it didn't say an amount I'd probably just throw it out thinking I couldn't afford it. Most people get what "from $20" means don't they? Especially when you add "depending on the size of the house".
With the "from $20" on it I'd probably ring you if I was local, even just for a quote.
Good luck Vanessa

so what you are saying is you know the house can not be cleaned for $20 & you would still ring for a quote to see how much it would be...and this is basses on a flyer that says from $20. Now to me you make no sense.
A cleverly worded flyer can attract a lot of potential customers, & that is what is required. I am giving my option to try & help with giving a different options that may help.
On a flyer you can put price lists etc, email contacts..make up a web page..the list is endless, if you want to make it into a business, big or small.

Oh & also meant to add I love the name "The Cleaning Fairy" & I would expect to pay around the $40 mark as that is pretty much on par.
I would not necessarily go for the cheapest but for someone who is honest, respectful of my property and does a good job.

I like the from $20 as well because I would have no idea how much a cleaner costs and that at least sets a mark.
I think its a great idea Vanessa, I hope it works for you

I like the from $20 as well, because it gives me an idea that I just might in fact being able to afford a cleaner, even if it's just for an hour a week or something doing mundane tasks. If I got one which just said "prices reasonable" I would probably throw it out, because "reasonable" has an entirely different meaning to various people. "From $20" gives a starting point.
Good luck!!!

I think having the 'from $20' part is fab - i also would throw it out if it didnt say how much - thinking i could never afford a cleaner!! At $20 ish then people might be keen to get you in to quote on how much they can get cleaned for that amount of money - if that makes sense!!

I think it sounds good. I too like the $20 otherwise I would never ring as I would think it would be too much.

What about adding in ironing...DH has been making lots of smart comments about how I could at the very least do the ironing and I can't stand it. I want a cleaner and someone who also irons!

Love the name Vanessa!
You gonna do ovens? I hate cleaning ovens.... and windows. Would pay for someone to do my ovens and windows! I would love the idea of a cleaner even for just an hour a week but hate the idea of someone seeing my house dirty!

yep that's why i really want to put a price on there.....but don't want to have too much writing on there as people wouldn't want to read it all
DH has printed them off for me today.......i left it as
FROM $20 depending on size of house and also added 'call vanessa for a quote' on the bottom
thanks for all your input ladies!! if you're in chch, spread the word

To tell you the truth I never read ANY junk mail ..
The only one I did read was because it was half the size of an A4 and was laminated (turns out it was beauty therapy and it is in the house just next door!) anyway it had a magnet on the back, so its gone on the fridge so I can call her when Im back at work and have more disposable income.
It was probably pricey, but definately got my attention.
And, im a bit late .. but I do like the from $20.00 part, I would never consider cleaner that didnt list some kind of price as I figure they would come give me an exorbitant quote and "waste my time"

Would love a cleaning fairy to visit me!
How about advertising at the birthing ward at the hospital? I will get a cleaning person if I ever have another baby, if just to help me through that first few weeks. You could get a lot of people keep you on longer.
