So I was thinking, you can not work at all (well other than being a SAHM but YKWIM) and get 9 hours subsidised, so does that mean if you do work can you get the 9 hours on top of other hours you're subsidised for?
I get 12 hours a week (which I work all of) so theoretically we only get 3 hours more than someone who doesn't actually need the care. Does anyone know if I can actually apply for more or am I dreaming in thinking that it doesn't make much sense to me to basically lose that 9 hours when Jack I'd love to be able to put them in 2 full days instead of part days and not have to panic about never getting my work finished etc.

yeah in short no. the only way to get more is having a disabled child but that is a little more complex..so it's 40 (or however many you get for working) or 9.
and I do 'need the care' even though i don't work...but i know what you mean:)

If you work full time do you get 40 hours subsidised or is it income tested?

KA I meant need the care as in you can't do what you do without it. Trust me I'd love to not work and have Jack in care, but I think as a mother you manage without, its just a nice bonus having some free time I would imagine.
Oh and bugger but I guess it doesn't really matter because as of Feb we prob won't qualify for anything anyway as I'll be working full time.

The income limits are on the website, and it depends on how many kids you have (even if all aren't in daycare/childcare).
The 9 hours like you say is for people who don't work just to give them a little bit of time off, but if you do work no you don't get that 9 hours + whatever the time you are actually working.
