How much commission is it normal for a modeling/acting agency to take, and how much is it normal for them to charge as an annual fee to be on their books?

Depends on the agency - we signed Oli up with one, and it cost us $50 to sign up (to get his card printed and get him on the website) and they take 15% (I think - need to dig out the contract). They are a pretty reputable agency though.

It can vary from 10-20% commission. Not sure about the annual fee.
Make sure you don't go with a dodgy one though a little more commission is worth it to get a good agent.

Hmm the one that I contacted looks pretty reputable but they charge the annual fee, my brother who is with an agency said not to pay the fee as they already earn money off you which is fair enough.

Its for DD just for something to do while I'm bored lol not expecting anything whatsoever from it so it probably makes more sense if we don't pay an annual fee

We went with a good agency so don't pay annual fees or fees to be on the website (can't remember the percentage they take) .... but then again he hasn't got any work from it either!

we signed the boys up with August Models. Bunch of homos charge $30 a year and make you sign up for two years. and you get NO photos on their website, and we haven't head anything from them. I follow him up and he gives me the old 'theres no work' BS!!

GRR Sorry for the rant.

I'm about to email them to tell us we want the money back due to mis statement - telling us they were the only agency that specialised in child talents.... I have heard of some far better agencies that actually find work for kids, so will switch!

I understand they didn't fulfil your expectations, but is it really necessary to be so homophobic?

I'd also like to remind you that this forum is open to the public, and the agency in question might not take too kindly to being defamed.

Ella is with one that charged $28 for her cards - was optional - and she is on a private website (clients get a password to check out children). No other charge. Then they take 20% commission off any work that comes in.

I was with one as a kid that took about the same and we paid $50 to join and it was compulsory to update photos done by their photographers....at a charge....we left them after a years contract!
