Hi all,
I know us preggies have to (or at least are meant to  ) avoid spas during pregnancy but does anyone know what temperatures are ok to soak in?
Hubby and I are off for a pamper weekend in Taupo and apparently the hot springs have a cold pool (34C) which they recommend as safe for preggy ladies and they advise you to have water with you. They do not advise you use the hotter pools at all though. I have been in that pool before and it is acutally pretty cool from what I recall. Just wanted some other opinions if you think it will be fine (before I merrily waddle on into it).  ------------- http://lilypie.com">

its to ensure that you do not overheat so best to stick to what they say is safe and make sure you have plenty of water with you so you don't cook. ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

| I dont know where i got the info,..but I thought spas were safe under 38 degrees.I hope so cos ive been going in my in-laws spa which is set at 37.5! Butthought that we're not supposed to go in thermal spas due to the increased bacteria risk, only chlorinated spas? |

Well I know the "cold" pool there is thermal heated but is chlorinated not thermal...there is a middle one that is still under 38 degrees and that is thermal. I do also know that they drain and waterblast the pools every night and then refill so not sure if that makes a difference... ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I went in spas but at someone's house when I was pregnant. I didn't keep my belly in the water all the time though, kept getting up and cooling off then sitting down again, like Janine said, to stop myself overheating ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Opps I went to the public pool's over summer and soaked in the spa there I just made sure I was not in there too long I figured I would have a bath at home about the same temp. ------------- Deborah Mum to:

I sat in a spa for quite a few hours at about 20 weeks, it was so nice and warm. I did pop into a spa in Dunedin briefly and did the same thing, was in for 5 minutes and got out before I got hot. I've always understood it's mainly to do with spending too long in a spa/pool/bath and just not letting yourself over heat.
