We're going away for 3 nights at this stage, but may be away for up to a week. Do I NEED to take the extra portacot mattress or will DS be ok for that long on the one that came with the portacot?

He'll be fine on the one it came with, put an extra blanket underneath if you are worried, but DS has slept on portacot mattresses for many nights in a row no problems, they don't seem to notice.

Ok awesome thank you. I suppose they couldn't really sell them like that if it wasn't ok for them to sleep on

Yep as Fiona said, he'll be fine, just pack an extra blanket to use under the sheet to pad it out a bit.

We always use an extra mattress at the inlaws but are about to take the portacot on a flight so won't have the extra mattress. Have been wondering the same thing - great idea about an extra blanket under the sheet. Thanks
