Does anyone have some nice simple, cheap and not cheesey ideas for a naming ceremony to be held at home? We want to acknowledge our sons birth and name to all our friends but dont want anything to formal. Any ideas welcome.

I just had family and close friends over, my aunty read a bit from the bible and blessed Jody, asked God for guidance for us as parents and then we all ate the top layer of our wedding cake that we had frozen for the occasion.
It was very casual, all I wanted was to acknowledge God, thank Him, and bless Jody.
You don't have to have a religious one though, you could just have afternoon tea with friends and family, get someone to make a wee speech up, perhaps include godparents if you have some?

You could have a "welcome baby" party.

Do a BBQ or
Afternoon tea or
Baby born shower

Invite people over to welcome the baby, they can bring a plate to keep cost down.

Someone can read a poem or you could write a special poem made of the baby's name.

People wont expect too much & will enjoy the opportunity to meet the baby.
