Hi Ladies. I'm a regular here, but I have created an an anonymous name for the purpose of posting my blog that I thought some of you might be interested in.. It has just started in terms of what is there now, and I don't officially start my task of cutting out the junk food until Monday. That is when I will post my current weight and photo (without a head of course).. I don't feel like I'm ready to reveal my stats with people yet...even if they can see it for themselves somewhat.

I'm so embarassed about my weight (even my own husband doesn't know how much I weigh!)..and I know some people here irl that could pass on the information by accident. Wouldn't want that!!! lol I'd rather he just see the end result before I admit how heavy I have become.

In fact, if anyone else here wants to anonymously get involved in the blog by trying to lose weight/posting photos along side me that's cool too. All comments are welcome on the blog.

Anyway, if you figure out who I am please keep it to yourself or I might have to sit on you!

So please check it out.. Maybe you can relate? http://www.fatmum.co.nz - Fatmum Blog

Good for you, I don't need to disguise my identity to admit that I am fat and need to do something about it.
I'm trying to be come a mum and have finally admitted to myself that I am obese and this is most likely the reason I'm not getting pregnant.
Good Luck with your journey, my husband has no idea about my weight either but he has eyes and can see for himself that I'm not healthy.
I am pleased to say it is now the 9th day of the year and I haven't had any McDonalds my aim is to go the whole year without it.

Mrsg1 same here. I have decided (was between xmas and NY that I decided this, and have stuck to it so far!) that I am NOT buying any more chips/biscuits/cakes etc and that way if they arent in the house, I wont eat them! My 'fat clothes' from prior to losing weight just before getting preg with Jae are getting tight on me, and I cant afford more fat clothes, so I am going to work on losing weight so I can wear my old 'normal' clothes again (plus, not buying all that junk is going to save me some $ anyways!)

I will however, allow myself a treat when I go out for lunch/ coffee etc, cos I dont want to go cold turkey on the nice things otherwise I will just obsess until I do something really silly and ruin the hard work!

Best of luck fatmum (feel mean calling you that though!) and I will be following your progress!

Oops sorry Deb And Liz hehehehe

Actually all of you ladies on here I don't mind knowing who I am, but since there are a couple of members here that have links to DH, that's my only thing... Also, I don't really want people to refer to me by my real name on the blog (which tends to happen when you know the person).. A bunch of you are also friends of mine on facebook...but I won't be mentioning the blog there.

Soooo.. if any of you really do want to join in and also be anonymous-yet-public slimmers (or not, if you prefer for people to know who you are).. I can always add your photo and weight to your own progress page if you want? It's starting Monday!

I just figure it's easier to stick to something like this (notice I always avoid the word diet).. when you have other people you are reporting to in terms of your weight loss/gain.

I just wanted to wish you all the best I have been where you have been and I commend you for putting it up here.

I was almost 90kgs about 5 years ago. I was eating sausages and bread for lunch, pies, biscuits! When I saw photos of myself after my daughters christening I decided it was time to do something. I managed to get down to 55kgs and have pretty much stayed around the same weight since then. It was hard work getting there! But I always remember going into a clothing shop and asking the lady for a size 8 (I was a size 18) and it felt really good!
Hang in there, it will be worth it at the end, I promise!

Way to go Fatmum! I too have firmly decided to make a drastic change in my life. I'm sick of the way I look and the way I feel - fat. ugly & unhealthy!
Also, as my girl is getting older I've realised that I want to lead by example with eating & exercise. I realised I make all her food from scratch, always picking the healthy option, all the while going for the packet of choccie biscuits for myself
I haven't cut everything out, but watch my portion sizes (only eating off a small plate, which is chocka block ) drinking atleast 2L of water a day and getting up and doing a long walk every morning. I have already noticed the difference in my energy levels & moods (DH has too )

Anyway, good luck to you, which I'm sure you won't need at all!
Let's make 2010 our year!

mrsg1: Nice work avoiding the McD's! Good luck with your journey too!

MamaPickle: I probably would consider myself more of a chicken since I won't even blog with my real name lol Thanks though

kaiz231: That is fantastic! Congratulations for keeping it off so for long too! Also.. I have seen you, and you look amazing!! That is definitely a motivating thing to know as I am about the same weight now with my awesome all-crap diet lol

Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking!

Wow you eat a lot of crap! (to use your term) . If you break down your weekly menu there is barely anything fresh or unprocessed in your current diet. Coming from someone who eats practically none of what you are currently eating it was a bit of a shock! Your savings on cutting out takeaways must be another great incentive. I wish you all the best, I'm sure you'll do well and I look forward to following your progress

Ooh exciting, the very first member of the FMC (Fat mums club) is now on the site too. Just go to the FMC tab, or the pages along the side and check out ooEvaoo's page! If anyone else wants to join in and get your own page - just let me know via the contact page on the blog. You don't have to be as brave as ooEvaoo and keep your head in the photo (I'm too chicken to do that haha)

Thanks for joining in :D

Awww don't be! Even with different starting points, we are all in the same boat (which would probably sink if it were a real boat with us big ladies on board) lol

There are others members of the FMC listed on the website and no-one is using their real name, so you can do this anonymously too if you want with no head on your pic like me. Even still, if you just want measurements that's up to you. Better to have support than to do it alone?

I'm semi anonymous...just don't open the picture so that its big lolz.

I'll post mine it was 102.4kgs as at Sunday morning I'm a lot heavier than most of you. I'm a size 20 and at least 40 kgs above my ideal weight for my height of 5ft 2in.

I want to lose enough weight to enable me to concieve and  maintain a healthy pregnancy will lose it all once I've got my baby.

I'm sure you aren't as bad as that Bizzy.

Worse part is I'm a failed Weight Watcher several times over, will be doing it on my own this time.

The pie's picture is very yummy btw

Sorry my bad, you did call it the lilfatty weight loss plan - I feel I should have a little trade mark sign after the name .. it could catch on!

mrsg1 - no my name will remain unchanged, it stems from when I was weighing in at my heaviest which was 100kgs + .. anyway after I had dropped 40 kgs, my then husband used to refer to me as his lilfatty (instead of a big fatty) .. and it just kind of stuck (even longer than husband number one in fact)

The only thing I noticed on Reductil was I did not have an appetite, & was always busy, no other side effects than racey heart.

It cost about $80 I think & I also got feed up with spending money on pills that made me feel yuck.

Mmmm definitely not!..especially if you had to be on it for awhile...I think slogging it out the ole fashion way makes it all that more worth it when you reach your end result...took yonks to put this weight on, but I'll be damned if it takes yonks to get it off lolz

Hi all, I have 30kg to lose (New Years resolution) and am keen to join in with a few others who want to lose weight. I'm going to do weight watchers though, so I can keep it off once I get there.

Like you Bizzy, too embarressed to publish my start weight.

Question about bathroom scales.

Year before last I bought electronic scales. Ever time I use them they show a different weight. Drives me nuts. One day I am down 5+kg then 2seconds later I am 10+kg, it usually hovers around my record weight, but I want it to be more consistent.

So what scales should I be looking at using?

I have always thought the dial (non digital) display scales are better value for money.. always reliable as long as it's sitting on '0' to start with, and no batteries to change. I only have a flash one now because it was a present.

Also everyone, I really wanted to try and find a way for you to be able to update your pages so I have fixed things up a bit. It still looks exactly the same, but if you could please update your link to the site to use http://www.fatmum.co.nz - www.fatmum.co.nz that would be awesome thanks!

With all the people willing to be part of the FMC I wanted to try and make it as easy as possible.

Stupid scales have given me 5 different reading today, so I have added the highest, rather watch it come down than up & down

Funnily enough i dont put butter or marg on the kids sandwiches.   i read somewhere that your body cant break down the butter/marg and bread combo as well as bread without it. so apparetly even using mayo is a better alternative.

Today i found a stash of chocolate on the fridge. Three bags of those mini chocs, and i have no idea where they came from and neither does my husband. Is the universe conspiring against me i wonder... lol!

Thanks, I didn't want to change the look too much, but the layout of images is easier to set up on this one. lol actually yes it is lilfatty, I wasn't aware there would be so much interest, but the site stats and FMC ladies joining tell me otherwise

I love that we can encourage each other and other mums to lose weight/get healthy so there's all the more reason to make it easier for everyone to use.

The one thing I wasn't sure about was getting the logons for you guys to update your pages. I realised that the formatting is so easy to lose that it was easier to add a fmc forum specifically for each of us to put in whatever we want daily, or however often we want. Obviously others are welcome to join to ask questions and make comments.

Just thought it might be better than relying on the comments section of each page which can be easy to miss sometimes.

Got this in my inbox. Thought I'd share :)

'Twas the month after Christmas...

Twas the month after Christmas,
and all through the house,
Nothing would fit me,
not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled,
the chocolate I'd taste
At the holiday parties
had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales
there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store
(less a walk than a lumber),

I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt...
I said to myself, as I only can,
"You can't spend a Summer, disguised as a man!"

So, away with the last of the sour cream dip.
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie, not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie.
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore...
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all, and to all a good diet.

Bizzy think I should be adding it to the diet as it is good for ya good idea about the pizza.

I am still tiring to work out meals for me.

My meal plan I've devised for myself goes a bit like this:

Breakfast - 2 weetbix 1/2 cup trim milk and a piece of fruit
Lunch - Sandwich with humus and salad and a WW fruit bag
Dinner - small serving of what ever I'm cooking for DH and I - protein of some sore and loads of vege/salad
Dessert - yoghurt ice cream and a banana

Lunch is my main problem meal as if I don't take something from home that's nice I'll leave it in the fridge and go buy something which is envitably unhealthy.

Dinner is easy to make something we both like and simply eat less of it.
It was fun doing the shopping with my WW points calculator and working out which muesli bar had the least/most points.
I recommend getting one of those.

Sounds like a good plan!

I was never a dessert person until DH and I got together, so over time I have slowly developed that need for something sweet after dinner. I have found it's not so bad at the moment, and fruit will suffice..but we'll see how long until I'm eyeing up his biscuits he takes to work (even though I'm not a biscuit person either usually) lol

fatmum, just been checking out your forum, looks fab, what a lot of work you have put in to it, will be interesting to see in a couple of months how big it gets

As for sweet stuff I am not really into them DH is in a big way so I tend to have some now & then...if I am mindlessly not thinking, or if AF is around chocolate is my best friend. Everything else is my problem, lol.

Posted By: caliandjack
Date Posted: 14 January 2010 at 4:57pm
sweet stuff is our biggest down fall - DH and I both love chocolate and don't take much encouragement from each other to eat that or biscuits, ice cream etc. We've now finished all the chocolates and biscuits we got for christmas so no more at all, restricting them to birthdays and christmas. I'd rather wait for when yummie boxed chocolates come out than sacrifice my weight loss for a chocolate bar.

easter is always a tough time for me - will see how we get on this year

You ladies have inspired me to get my butt out and beat the feet this week! I have walked every day since seeing this thread and even managed a 5km run last night - although it nearly killed me!

fatmum I have been reading your website and I wish you all the very best in your weight loss journeys!

An idea for silverbeat is to add it your salads, it is delicious and is very well disguised in amongst the lettuce    I also add fresh herbs from our garden, like basil and mint to our salads, makes them really interesting and not taste so "boring" and watery!

I am still plucking up the courage to join as a member in your weight loss journeys, although I would love to loose a few kgs

Good one peachy, and thanks!

Hey everyone well done for getting on to the weight loss journey!! I would love to join you all and have registered on the fatmum website but am not sure how to put up my details and photos etc. Any help would be great.

I need to lose 17kgs and would love to do that before I have another baby. I have previously done weight watchers and lost 36kgs but have put at least 20 kilos back on. As weight watchers is no longer working for me I have decided to count calories instead to see if that works better for me.

So now i am serious about this I am going back to the gym as have had my membership on hold. I will weigh tomorrow morning and plan my meals.

Easter is a hard time to diet but what I found really good was the marshmellow easter eggs. If I'd had a good day and exercised I'd treat myself to an egg. It stopped my cravings for anything sweet and was low in calories (or so I was told) but either way it worked really well. In fact I got stressed out when Easter finished and I'd lose my marshmellow egg supply!

you might want to reconsider the dessert. I looked at the yoghurt ice cream at the supermarket today and it is very high in carbohydrates, higher than some of the ordinary ice cream even.

Good on you! Reading your post re: what you used to eat surprised me. It just doesn't seem like you were eating much food in total each day. I guess that is one good thing about fresh / healthy foods...you can eat so much MORE each day and still take in less calories than if eating small amounts of junk.

Go breakfast is all I can say...it is totally the way to go, even if you have to force it down.

Why not just ditch the dessert altogether? When you have a habit of wanting something sweet after dinner it only sucks for the first week or so then you forget about it. Chocolate is my downfall. Once I start I can't stop but once you have been a week without its not bad.
