OK so I'm having all sorts of weird 'discomforts' tonight. I wont call them pains cause they are no where near like what labour is going to be like lol.
Anyway, I've been having BH occasionally over the past few days but now when I go to the toilet, it honestly feels like I need to push Isla out cause she is so low feeling. And TMI but when I'm on the loo, I notice that my 'vajayjay' is really swollen and hard like her head is pushing against it or something, I duno. About 3hrs ago I got a few stabbing pains in my cervix, like the feeling of a needle going in. That's only happened about 3 times. Still getting the BH every now and again. They don't last long tho, maybe like 10sec at the most and they aren't regular at all. And now the top of my bump feels weird. Getting the odd stabbing type pain but more so feels like someone has their hand in my abdomen, pulling everything downwards. Kinda feels like pulled ligaments across the top of my bump and in one spot it feels bruised. I'm not doing anything to cause it, I was just lying on the couch and my tummy would go tight then I'd get the stabbing pain. It's really weird. And not sure if it's anything to do with it, but I couldn't eat dinner cause I felt ick.
Any ideas or am I just being paranoid?

Oh and there is an area on the top of my bump about the size of an old 50c piece that feels really tender and bruised for some reason

Hi maybe give your midwife or the hospital a call if you can't talk to your MW and ask them if you are worried (sorry thats probably not much help).

I'm afraid it all sounds pretty normal to me for the gestation you're at, try making sure you're drinking plenty of water and other fluids to stay hydrated as that can make BH and other pains much worse.
The labial swelling you could probably attribute to the extra blood volume rushing around your body, and my other guess for the electric shocks and 'pushing' stuff would be that your babe is engaged or about to be. I had very similar feelings from 36 weeks on in my second pregnancy (don't remember those details from my first as much).

Thanks I have a habit of being a tad neurotic...... but it's easy to become paranoid when you don't really know what to expect. So it's good to know it's just normal and nothing to be worried about.
I've had a pretty easy pregnancy with no real discomfort so it wasa bit of a shock to the system when all of a sudden I'm feeling all these different things at once!

The last few weeks are certainly a bit of a rollercoaster, try to rest and nurture yourself as much as you are able - growing a new human being is hard work and you are doing well.

Yep sounds normal to me as well
The last few weeks are horrid for some people, with both my kids I had that, the stabbing pains up the vjj are what us August mums call fanny lightening lol, its where the baby is pressing on your cervix. I also got the feeling of heaps of pressure when i went for a wee, somedays I felt like I could push her out lol, and I felt swollen.
Also the sore spot is most likley where a knee is pressing and yep it feels bruised
