Hey everyone 
Has anyone got any ideas for where I could hold DS's 1st birthday if the weather doesn't cooperate with me for the BBQ lunch I want to have!!?? Where abouts out west are you. The community hall up the road from me hires out for $80. Depends what you've got planned and how many people I guess.

try some of your local playgroups. We have used one near us (Wellington, sorry so not much help) but we hired the venue and all the facilities that it came with for the Saturday morning. It cots $35 and all we had to do was make sure we tidied up at the end. They had heaps of big toys, an outside play area and a kitchen. Not a bad deal.
ETA: just re-read your post and saw the last bit - so maybe my idea would be better for next year   -------------

We hired our local playcentre and it was $20 for members and $30 for non members and we had access to the fridge, tea and coffee, oven and all the play stuff including paints etc. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Yeah our playcentre can be hired out so ring your local one and ask how much. Be aware that they all have different terms, for instance our hirage doesn't include consumables (paint, playdough, craft stuff) but you still have all the trains, dolls, playground, sandpit etc ------------- Lindsey
