Hi,
just wondering about dry pailing.
I ve always soaked my dirty nappies in water...
and didnt give dry pailing much of a thought.
(eventhough most instructions on the nappies i use mix of Ecobubs, Peapods, B.cheeks suggest dry pail)....and i m getting bit sick of lifting and draining the dirty soak bucket )

so, i m curious how do you eliminate the odour of dry pail? with teatree oil?
do you put in in the bucket, on the nappies?
(wouldnt the oil on nappis cause build up and leaking)
How best to dry pail?

Thnak a lot!!!

drop a few drops of tea tree oil onto a cloth wipe and stick that in the bottom of the dry pail and that will take care of the smell.

other option is to use a http://www.scamps.co.nz/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_7&products_id=19 - nappy bucket liner (just throw it in the wash with the nappies)

yeah always use a lidded nappy bucket regardless of whether you wet pail or dry pail.

I can just see my 11 month old pulling out all the dirty nappies and playing with them

Hi,
thanks for the replies.
oh, i m surprised that a lidded bucket on its own is enough as you say Bizzy. Maybe my girl is a heavy wetter ...lidded bin is ok, untill i open it to add dirty nappy in ( i use liners so no poos there) and then the smell is just quite overwhelming...

anyway, just tried the cloth wipe with bit tea tree oil and it works wonders!!!! even today on 2nd day as i wash every 2 days... Cool!

Thanks a lot & i m diffinitely dry pailing from now on!!!

I'm super lazy. I have a bucket with a lid and I just throw them in (obvously poos get tipped off in loo). Then I tip them all in the wash and chuck the lid back on. Every now and again I rinse the bucket.

I find that if I rinse all inserts and pockets well before putting them in the bucket then I get no yucky smells

I put a few drops of tea tree oil in the bottom of the bucket and also rinse it out every second day when it gets emptied. It gets a wee bit whiffy but not too bad.
