Hi Bombshell,
We have done 2 IUI's in Sept & Oct last year - so far both BFN's but about to start another cycle this month with clomid.

I think the rates are quite low - maybe 20% but thats probably because I'm a bit old lol.

Good luck

Hi Bombshell,

We have done two IUI's and are due to start our 3rd next week.

I think they recommend 4 and after that IVF is the go.
Your specialist should recommend to you how many cycles to do. We are doing 4 and if no luck then into IVF.

Good luck with it!

I did wonder that - i seems normal to be 3-4 then IVF - and am wondering if just to push for IVF - heck one round of that is same cost as 3-4 IUI!!!

Ruby we the same age!

Spec said he will start us on monitored clomid one and my egg reserves came abck good but who knows.....I am so up in air about this decision!

Hi all, we did 5 IUIs and all failed, unfortunately they can't tell until you do IVF what your egg quality is like, and my egg quality is terrible, so IUI would never have worked.

But I truely believe that you have to try everything! it will be worth it!, We don't regret any decision we have made, including all the money we have spent on IVF, because we have peace of mind that we did our best.

Am wishing you all the best, hope it works!!

Hi all, new to this.
We did IUI and were successfull 23 weeks and having a little girl. Not without heart ache though it is third time lucky. First attempt it didn;t work, second attempt miscarried and third time lucky so far. Been through Fert Associates and Fert Plus doing both IUI. Fert Plus cycles are different and cost 1/2 the price.
Good luck for all who are trying and keep positive and relax!!
Any questions feel free to ask.
Take care and fingers crossed.

Hi Bombshell

I went through two unsuccessful stimulated, monitored IUI (chlomid and hormone injections and lots of scans and blood tests)... was meant to do a third and if that too was a BFN then it was on to IVF. Only went about it this way as my 'points' for publically funded IVF weren't quite enough without a year's more wait so IUI was a 'time-filler'.

The issues were with me apparently - grade 3 endo but after lap surgery Doc was baffled why not preggie six months later as all was looking good and all the male tests passed with flying colours.

Only got to the second IUI result though and then my marriage went kaput... this little bean is the result of a wee fling once I left my ex... seems must have just been a compatibilty issue, though I don't recommend the way I've gone about it!

LOL angiebabe - classic and have heard of others like that!!!

We are privatefunded so am kinda thinking is it worth doing all 3 IUI and then IVF if not successful or one IUI and straight to private IVF....either way it is gonna cost us big time.....

We did ICSI with IVF funded by ourselves as we couldnt get on the waiting list due to my weight (even thought it was male factor infertility) and then went on to DI and paying all the bills for the Doner to be tested etc, I would hate to know how much we spent all up but it was worth every cent.
We had to do the ICSI to give DF a chance to be a dad and when it didnt work we were lucky enough to have a friend offer to donate. We are so pleased we did things the way we did and it doesnt matter how much it all cost, now that we have our wee man it is all money well spent. Even the 1/4ly bills to keep the frozen samples for baby #2

Hey Bombshell,
Looks like 3rd time is the go as I found out today I have my BFP.
This was a clomid cycle and being traumatised from the FSP back in October I also had that medazalan (sp?) for the treatment which relaxed me nicely - was really giggly - DP found me hilarious.

Anyway, all the best for your journey

Hey Rubyrock - I saw on the chat thread about the HSG that you had had one done. Do you mind if I asked how long ago your HSG was, in relation to your BFP from IUI?

Just seems that a lot of people get UTD having had a lap or HSG done and I'm wondering as I just had my HSG done in late Jan.

Cheers :)

Hey Frankie,

I had my HSG done several months before the first IUI and I didnt thing it had any bearing on the BFP at all. I also had a polyp removed beforehand too.

What I thought may have been different was after the FSP treatment was that I had (TMI) an awful period, passing huge clots and very heavy (had to change tampon & pad every hour) - very unusal for me.

We then took a break from Oct to Feb and I think probably cause I was more relaxed and knew what to expect (and I had happy drugs) that made it all the more comfortable.

I'm not saying that having the HSG might be the factor here for you - I just dont think it was for me.

Good luck

Cheers
