I've found 2 in the last week both times as i'm putting her down to bed. Killed them both but i expect more. How can i make the cot less attractive to them?
I'm terrified she'll get bitten.

I would seriously look into getting your house sprayed. We get ours done once a year and it costs $220 but its so worth it. You can't do it yet, with bub being so little but from about 8 weeks its ok. In the meantime what about getting some of that outdoor spray and spraying it around all your windows and doors plus using some fly spray in the nooks and crannies around your house?
White tails are just awful, I hate them. And apparently where you see one, there are four more lurking.

We use stuff from Mitre 10. You spray it around the outside of the house. It was ages until we saw spiders agin- 4-5months? I think it was $40?

will go shopping tomorrow then and look at an exterminater when bubs is older. typically these are the first i've seen in months, not impressed with them being in her cot! hate to think there might be 6 more in there, thanks curiousG!

we have just found white tails in the baby's bed too - we have had 3 in the past 2 days *shudder*
Im really worried once she is here that she will be bitten also. will look into some sort of spray too I think
just wondering what would happen if someone was to get bitten?

I've been bitten by a white tail before and it felt like a really bad bee sting. The area started swelling up pretty quick so we rushed off to A&E and they gave me cream to put on it. It just turned into a really big boil-type thing and yea. Was bloody sore! Different people have different reactions tho and it all depends on where you get bitten. Mine was on the foot.

A really good sign that you have them is that you have no other spiders around. I'm with the others i would definately go out and get something to treat the house with. I would check with some of the local people that spray houses too there might be those who can spray your house while bubs is so young. i would be a bit cautios about using the of the shelf products sometimes they are worse than professional products. There must be somewhere that you can ring to find out which ones are "safe" to use if you have infants. Bearing in mind anything that kills sopiders isn't going to be perferctly safe. Just practice abit of caution.

You can get a product called Ripcord Plus from hardware stores, you make up the mixture yourself and spray inside and outside. It's fantastic for all bugs including White Tails.. could give that a go.

I would be going mental crazy with spray. I lived in Aussie with my second and we had a white tail problem cos of building the house they wouldve set up shop while the house was still wide open etc in the beams.............so i moved all his bedding outside and bombed the inside of the house with spider bombs (they come in 3 packs like flea bombs) and then did the outside of the house and we didnt see them for 3 months. but as soon as i saw more than one in any given 2 week period i would bomb again.
We have rather large spiders here setting up residence, but harmless ones, but i still went nuts the other day and sprayed all the windows etc........esp with weather being warmer and having windows open more they think its an invitation to come in
