Hi there, just wanting some peoples experiences with rental car companies please.

We will have 7 adults and 3 kids under 4 travelling from Auckland Airport at Easter.

I have been looking online at all the places and I think my head might explode trying to figure out what is the best way to organise everyone.

What I really want to know is has anyone had experiences with rental car companies ie who are good, who would you never use again etc.

Have you used their carseats or taken your own? Do they have tether bolts etc

Its looking like a people mover and a small car might be the way to go.

Any experiences/ideas most appreciated, thank you

Always had good experiences with Thrifty and are often the cheapest.
You may need to call them about the car seat thing though.
We use Budget through work and are also good.

Yip, we use Thrifty and Budget - both great.

We used to use cheaper companies (like A2B Rentals etc) but found that the money saved was often not worth the inconvieience. The 'bigger' companies have true airport pick up - so you walk out, get your keys and you're out of there. Smaller companies often pick you up, take you to their place, blah, blah, blah - takes an extra hour and then there is the reverse when you are ready to go home.

With Budget and Thrifty you can join their loyalty programmes (often online) and then pick up is even quicker! Now it takes me lioterally 1 min to collect a car as they have my licence and c. card details.

Good Luck!

Most of the cars they have tend to be newer so most have a tether bolt, but just check, and the car seats are so expensive to hire, we found it WAAAYYY cheaper to take our car seat with us.
But if you are flying domestic, I would check the luggage limits as to whether you can take car seats with you.

Hi, we have just used Avis (from Auckland Airport). All the companies have websites so it pays to have a look around. We took our own carseat (but you can hire). Most airlines don't charge for you to take these and I preferred knowing the history of our carseat. If you are after a larger vehicle you would be best to book shortly especially if it is at easter - sometimes companies have limited bigger vehicles.
