so the cut off is 26 years old. does this mean once you turn 26 you cant get it any more and you can still get it when your 26. (probably dum question. lol) also where about can it be done and for roughly how much?

| Sorry don't know about cost, but I just assumed that it was only available for people born 1990 onwards, didn't realise you could pay for it separately if you wanted it. |

Give a medical centre a call and ask them the cost - its registered to woman up to 45 - but as you say only funded to 26 - which means once you turn 26 your not free

yay. thanks heaps thats real helpful. isnt it funny how much more you look after yourself when you have kids. im so worried bout not seeing them grow up becuase of something i could have done so easily. ive only ever had one smear done too, naughty, so im gonna do that as well. i guess studying medicine makes you even more paranoid, *sigh* anyway, yay thats one more thing i can cross of my list of things i could help prevent :D -------------

yea totally i guess in my head the smears are great for catching out abnormal cells that are caused by HPV but they still need to be treated and stuff. although the vaccine only targets the 2 main strains of the virus it still stops you getting those 2 strains therefore hopefully preventing causing the abnormal cells and reducing the need to have them treated. the smears therefore still check for the other strains but your safe from the most common ones if that makes sense. i dont really have anything to lose, it doesnt cost much and reduces my chances so may as well -------------

they do suggest that you have the HPV vaccine before you are sexually active (which is why they give it to 12- 13 year olds as apparently 90% (or something high like that) have it from unprotected sex - (its very very common)so it could be too late - not sure if you can have a test to say if you have it or not - doesnt always turn up on the smears. -------------  http://lilypie.com">
