my dog has fleas! 
Last week i used the stuff that you put on the back of their necks (cant remember the brand!) that i got from the vet but it doesnt seemed to have worked. im wondering if i didnt get enough on the skin as it normally works does anyone know how i can rid off them? ------------- http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">

Another thing you can use is Buzz off 2 I think it's called. Available from the Vets. It's toxic stuff so I wouldn't use if you were preg or get DH to put it on. It's designed for flies on horses but works brilliantly on biting flies on dogs ears & also as a bonus it keeps fleas away. ------------- Kel http://lilypie.com">

Oh poor doggy! We've just spent a fortune at the vet cuz my old dog is allergic to bites :(
I've used all the vet ones in the past and the best that I've personnaly found was the normal old Advantage. We've had to do him (and the others) twice in a month instead of once, we flea bombed the house, bathed him in flea shampoo, let him have a couple of days to dry completely (bichon frise) and then dosed him up with Advantage. No scratching since! But yea, the most important thing as Bizzy said is to make sure you do any bedding he has. A good hot wash with something lavendar based (ecostore etc) will help to get rid of eggs. Fleas themselves are killed super easy, its the eggs that get you cuz they can stay dormant in carpet for YEARS. ------------- Alex, Thomas and Lily http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">

Ditto, give him a bath, clean the bedding and put two flea bombs in your house. You can get them from the supermarket (I think it's mortein who do them and come in packs of two). They kill everything in sight including the eggs!
We had tenants who had two cats and had fleas when we moved back in, set off two flea bombs and I was vacuuming them up the next day, never had fleas again. -------------

MissAngel- im glad to hear that im not the only one that has trouble getting rid of my dogs fleas! i didnt want to sound like i wasnt looking after her (or i was just stupid and didnt know how to look after her)

Hiya- I was just reading in the NZ gardener magazine about this! Lol if you want a natural approach (no insecticides and stuff) here is a recipe out of the magazine.
Wendyl's Doggy De-Flea Treats: 3 teaspoons beef stock powder, 3 1/2 Cups wholemeal flour, 1/2 cup bran, 1/2 cup wheatgerm, 1/2 cup linseed, 2/3 cup brewer's yeast, 2 tablespoons garlic granules, 2 eggs, 1 1/2 cups hot water. Mix all ingredients together, except water and eggs. Mix in eggs then slowly add water, stirring constanly until you have a workable dough (the stickier the better). Roll out, cut into shapes and place on a greased tray. Bake at 180 degrees C for 20 Minutes, then turn off the oven, prop open the door slightly and leave to harden overnight. For large dogs feed 2-3 treats a day, or 1-2 for smaller dogs. De-Flea Powder 100g brewer's yeast, 30g garlic powder, 1 tablespoon wheatgerm, 1 tablespoon bran. Whizz up in a food processor and feed 1 teaspoon per day per cat. I just throw half a cup in with a box of biscuits and give it a good shake. I hope this helps someone!
