Is it just me going to the wrong shops or what? Everytime i go to look at clothes for DS there is always soooo much more girls stuff than boys. I just went to t&t at Sylvia Park and for DS size (1) they had maybe two stands of clothes to choose from, yet little girls clothes were just everywhere!!! And Baby Factory was just as bad!
Are there any shops that people know of that have more boys clothes? Sorry this is a bit of a rant more than anything!  -------------

They all seem to have more girls stuff. Have you tried pumpkin patch, baby city (postie), cotton on and farmers?
I found size 2 shorts hard to find at one point over summer (boys) too. ------------- DS (5yrs) and DD (3yrs) |

I like the boys range at JK. They seem to have a good selection, and is not way too overstyled like Pumpkin Patch. The Warehouse have good basics such as plain teeshirts as well.
You are right though, there is usually about 4x the amount of choice for girls as boys. Crazy. |

I find the same and when you actually do find something you like out of the minimal choice available they don't even have stock of the right sizes.
Most of Tane's wardrobe is plain white vests and t's. He has about 1/3rd the amount of clothes as his big sis at the same age... Ick I even need to go shopping for him for some bigger sizes but I can never be bothered as there is nothing to choose from... |

There's a shop in Takapuna Westfield - sorry I don't know its name - which is on the ground floor to the right of Farmers (as you go in) and it only does boys clothes.
Not having boys myself I don't know what sizes they do but it looked like it was from toddler to pre-teen from what I saw going past. ETA: Here's the website but it looks like they start at 4 years sorry. http://www.eurekaclothing.com/ - Eureka -------------

OH yes I feel your pain!!! I struggle to find boys stuff too. Most shops have 4 isles for girls and 1 for boys, so annoying!
Anyways while we were in NZ I found JK had a nice range for boys, in fact of all the shops we went into I found JK the best. I find myself buying a lot of white and natural colours. ------------- Our Angel July 08  Gone but not forgotten

JK is def the best range for boys but I actually buy ALOT of the Bonds range as it washes and wears really well but is a little more expensive.
Boys clothes are super hard to buy. Try dressing 2 of them! -------------

| to be honest, i think parents of little girls spend more. I'm hardly likely to spend much in my kids clothing, given how rough they are. but my friends who have wee girls practically live at pumpkin patch buying stuff. i don't think my sons own any pp clothing anymore. |

Yup not a lot of variety, I stare wistfully at the abundance of girls clothes.. but you can find some way cute stuff. K-Mart have a decent boys selection and are relatively ok price wise... Often have 20% off sales too. -------------

Yeah i would love to go shopping in aussie, my cousin little boy always has such cool little clothes, even the markets have some cool stuff.
K-Mart is probably my fav, and a good farmers isnt to bad either. And Lizzle you are so right i think, i always think gosh if i had a girl i would so buy this and that... would cost a fortune! That Eureka shop looks cool, will look in to that when the time comes. 
I really like PP stuff but i will only by the sale stuff... its to expensive for me! I always end up thinking gosh i could buy myself a top for that price and its way bigger!
But im glad im not the only one who thinks this! -------------

Totally agree! The upside is I don't spend so much because there isn't alot of choice.
Women like shopping more than men so it's understandable to have more womens clothes available than mens BUT women are the ones shopping for their children (most of the time) so why not an equal amount of boys clothes to girls? Grump! It SO frustrates me & I'm in love with all the girls clothing. I am lucky however as we go to the UK each year and they have an excellent HUGE selection of cheap boys clothing (although girls clothes still out number boys there is such a huge range it doesn't matter). ------------- 3yr old gorgeous ID twin boys. |

I find it really frustrating buying clothes for Caleb. It is like 90% of the store has girls clothes and there is a couple of racks of boys stuff so trying to find the right size of things that actually look good is just about impossible. I have asked at JK kids and Cotton On and they say they sell out of boys stuff really quickly, there is a lot of demand and not much stock to start with.
We went to the US for three weeks last year and although the shops were about four times the size of the shops here, again it was at least 3/4 girls stuff and not much boys stuff. I could at least get a good selection of stuff in his size over there. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Aussie clothes for boys are awesome. We go once a year and I stock up large for my kids. Esp all the Bonds stock as its always on sale over there. -------------

DF and I were discussing this the other day. I swear I could make a fortune if I opened up a clothing store just for boys. There is never any decent selection of boys clothes at any store. We went into Cotton On last weekend and it was probably the worst so far, one tiny corner for baby boys, whereas there were racks and racks for girls -------------

Hmm Im going to go against the grain about Aus being better. I find it just as bad here to get boys clothes. Target is probably the best and then Best and Less. PP is terrible for baby boys here as well. JK isnt here, which is a real PITA cos I really like it and Kmart is ok, but not great.

I agree. I'm not so keen on a lot of the boys clothing out there.
I love SpudKids/SpudBaby clothing and also another brand mirco motion/mine motion. Both are quite expensive but there is a department store near where we live that stock them and I have managed to get a few things very cheaply in their sales. |
