Is it just me, or has anybody else had trouble getting an appointment at the Eye Clinic that they don't re-schedule??

Last year I had to argue the appointment time and date, as they kept pushing it out, this time she made and confirmed the appointment, but today I get a letter with an even later date. It's frustrating and annoying. I wonder if there is anyone else with this hassle?

I need Luke to get seen as he has a very lazy eye, and Starship wanted it followed up asap, but she just doesn't get it!! GRRR
I guess I should ring tomorrow and ask to speak to her manager??

GL eye clinic are pretty shocking - if Starship want it followed up I would contact them and get them to chase the eye clinic, they will have a much better chance of getting them to pull finger!

PM Odettenz...she's an optom (in auck I think) and may know how the system works. I know they are usually pretty busy and have to prioritise things.

Yep, I'm an Optom in Akl

I have heard they have a massive back log at the moment- we have a lot of patients complaining about it.

I agree that you are best to ring Starship & get them to chase it up. Or alternately you could take him to an Optometrist & get them to send a letter to Greenlane to try speed things up. If you are going to do that then best to ring the NZ Optometric association & get a list of Optoms in Akl who specialise in kids.

I could imagine it's very frustrating for you, epsecially when they don't seem to be communicating effectively.

Hi Bex,

I have to say I was quite surprised to see the letter in the post a few weeks back with Eli's follow-up Eye appointment which is sooner than I thought it would be.

At the last appointment I got told they'll make another one for him in a year (even though I couldn't Eli to look long distance to see his googley eye) but it's been way sooner than a year so (for once) I'm happy about it all.

As you mentioned I think speaking to the manager is a good idea so someone gets their A into A. Eli's is this friday and I don't know how they're going to check a toddlers eye.

Thanks all.
I rang starship or think it was Auckland hospital and instead got a follow up for them with the child development team which is before the eye test, so when I'm there I will get one of the doctors to ring through to speed it up!! I couldn't handle trying to ring Greenlane again, got too stressed!!

Good luck at your appointment Yvette!
