Well no use beating around the bush here I won't mince words...
I had a bit of bleeding at 21 weeks... everything checked out fine afterwards BUT they couldnt find the reason. The midwife said at the time NO SEX!!! Which was fine with us cos we were so freaked out anyway.
Well now we are at 30 weeks and there had been nothing happen since...all has been normal... and so the fear is slowly leaving us and were thinking hmmm....might not be so bad hmmmmm....
So I asked the midwife today and she said that since nothing has happened we can try again...
While I am actually quite keen, I am also a bit nervous...
So I was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation and then resumed relations safely...?

poor hubby, i have lost my sexdrive completely!
i would say just try it, but take it slow and see how you feel.

I bled quite a bit through the first half of my pregnancy with Josiah... we were never told no sex, but I was fairly reluctant as that was one of the (many) things that seemed to trigger a bleed.

Once things had settled down (around 23ish weeks) we resumed relations with no problems.

I had a major bleeding at 18 weeks and was told no sex because tho there was no reason for the bleeding I had a small pouch of bllod sitting in there and doc said it is best to stay away till its all gone.....so finally at about 28 weeks or so I found out (after a scan) that its gone...I was very happy to jump my husband but Hubby was still so freaked out that he wont touch me.....Sad I know!! And he was afraid to hurt the baby!

So not much help I am....but if you are both keen go for it...but stay away from the mad freaky sex...you know kitchen bench, table etc..... ...he he ha ha ha

I had bleeding early on with Andrew and was told no sex. Fine for me as I so did not feel like it at all. After a few weeks we were told it was all fine and could go for it. Ease into it don't go for any records with postitions, think easy for you.

I had bleeding earlier on...quite a big bleed thought it was a miscarriage but then nothing happened. Ended up being a Placenta bleed where it pulled away. Bled for about 2-3 weeks and stopped. We have a pretty normal sex life now altho in saying that things are getting a weeeeee bit uncomfy but still okay!

Just be gentle.....no aerobics!!! (or should I say tell Hubby to be gentle)......

I wasn't sure if I should have started a new thread, but it sorta fits with this topic... anyway, once we are getting a bit more sleep and Erin has more of a routine, plus my stitches dissolve / bleeding stops, I can't wait to jump hubby again ! Although we have yet to have any serious thoughts about family planning LOL

You can use the minipill will breastfeeding... you have to take it at the same time every day (to within an hour) for it to be effective, and there are the same things to watch out for as the combined pill (antibiotics, grapefruit, excessive vomiting) that make it useless.

(says me, who got pregnant on the minipill, while using it correctly! )

yeah I have heard that if you are very fertile the mini pill can be quite risky - considering I was on the pill of 10 years and two weeks after I cam off I was pg I think I might be pretty fertile so I am a bit worried about it as an option....ahhh still some time to figure that all out I guess

You'll be fine, Roksana.

I'd stopped breastfeeding completely, and was waiting for my period so I could start the combined pill again... and it didn't come properly... and I still haven't had the LMP this pregnancy is dated from!

It's not true Frantic. It can seriously decrease your chances of getting pregnant but it is definitely not a reliable form of contraception. I know a couple of people who've gotten preggy while exclusively breastfeeding their babies because they thought they were safe!

What i didn't know u have to take the mini pill within an hour i take mine when i remember ranging from 4pm to 11pm oops i better set a time for it.

Back to the question i bleed at 26 weeks and they couldn't find anything and my midwife said it was ok for sex. I lied to DP and said none for a while but i think he got it out of me at about 30 weeks it just caused heaps of BH.

Jax you animal i waited til 8 weeks and even then i tried to put it off. I had stitches 2 and it doesn't hurt as much as i was expecting use lots of lube and put a pillow under your bum to get a good angle. My sex drive has only just come back and sex is finally good woohoo.

Jax, I SO could've written your post!! Man, did my sex drive completely disappear when pregnant, but damn it's come back almost straight away. Although I did jump with excitement when the doc said at our 6 week check that we'd talk contraception. Boy was I glad to hear that word!

I think I can only have the mini pill due to some meds I'm on but we'll see what doc says in a few weeks time.

LOL Well, what can I say, I adore my hubby and am just happy to have the energy to want to do it again LOL Am going to hopefully get into it before six weeks, but might wait - we'll see. Contraception for us will be relatively simple, am not a pill girl (health issues), so condoms ahoy

Hmmm, contraception.... will have to think about that - I am soooo not doing this again any time soon! I was thinking about a tubal ligation when the babies are born, but have since been convinced to hold off a while on that one. So it's either going to be no loving for Willie, or we will have to agree on something - he refuses to use condoms.

As for the bleeding, there's been no relations for us since day one just about, I've been too sick and tired to even be interested, and after my third lot of bleeding last week I am not feeling terribly inspired to start now.

I know how you feel Emma, I was the same after my bleedings.....man did that freak me out. But by the end of my pregnancy I wanted to jump my hubby...and then hubby was feeling a bit ...."oh what if I hurt the baby?".......Arrrgggg

I take my mini pill with in 3 hours (thats what it says in the pack) and I am also fully breastfeeding....so I guess I am safe but still better be careful, Huh?

I was thinking that if my next is a boy then I will get my tubes tied or his......he he ha ha

The not fertile while breastfeeding thing is so not true! I have got preg 3 times while feeding an under 1-year-old It doesn't stop your periods either (another myth). I get about 2-4 months break and that's it.

I think I a leaning towards an IUD after this pregnancy, I am almost positive that this bub will be the last but am not quite ready to take permanent measures just in case I change my mind. Andy is geared towards "The Snip". First time round I went on the mini-pill (but as Quinn was a mini-pill bub I wasn't so keen)... that only lasted a short time tho cause after a few months of waking every night four hourly we used the "i would rather sleep than have sex" method.

And the sex thing, there was no way I was waiting for six weeks but I was too shy to mention this to my midwife (cause she would tell my mum and there are some things I don't need my mum knowing). So we just did it...

I'm thinking about an IUD too Anna. I'm on the injection at the moment but the bleeding hasn't settled down at all. I've been bleeding (lightly) for the last 12 days or so and before that it was week on week off. Arghhhh.

Doctor wants me to give it another 3 months but it's driving me nuts. (As well as costing me a fortune in tampons etc!)

Yeah the IUD looks appealing to me right now too. I was thinking about the mirena.
I just can't be bothered with the pill anymore, after one pregnancy on it I haven't felt very safe.
I think compared to the monthly cost of tampons etc the cost of getting an IUD is reasonable. (assuming the bleeding stops )
Now I just have to convince Hubby!

I don't think the IUD does stop the bleeding... ?
Maybe the Mirena one does... I know it is used for those with heavy periods so maybe.
The normal one can cause heavier periods, I think.

*ugh* no way thanks, I would hate to go near anythign that could make them heavier!!!
There doesnt seems to be any really great form of contraception aorund does there - they all have some charming side effects!!!

It's only with some people... not everyone. Just like the injection makes some people put on weight... Yeah, no form of contraception is ideal.... but then neither is getting pregnant again is it?? - that's what I have to keep telling myself!

I have no more sex drive with this pregnancy- and now I'm doubting having sex ever again hahahaha. I've just had enough and don't want to risk getting pregnant again... But ask me in a few months / year if I want another baby and I'll most likely say yup... then regret it again half way through the pregnancy.

Lol, that's generally the way of it Stevie!
I think for most people the Mirena does stop you getting periods after some initial heavy bleeding.
Mind you, my doctor told me the same thing about the pill I was on and my periods didn't change at all, so I guess there's no guarantee with anything...

I had an IUD for about 18months..but I kept getting infections and had a funny odd smell which when the IUD was removed all stopped at once..In fact pretty much the day it came out!! I also had very heavy periods.

The Doc said people can get the "upleasant odour" because there is something foreign up there lapping up all the secretions and smells and stuff! That was one with the coil. Not the Mirena one you are talking about tho. So it may have changed.

I would not have a clue what we will do. Paige was conceived on the PILL. This one was conceived because we were practicing SAFE SEX (well we were fairly sure we were) to let my body have a break from the pill etc and I hate condoms.

And I am pretty dam sure Mark will not have a snip and I dont think I would want my tubes done really.
