We don't know if C has thrush, Hand/Foot/mouth & the dr asked if he's been in contact with anyone with coldsores. Am pretty sure he hasn't.

It started out last sunday looking like a layer of skin inside his mouth had come off, & had white edges where the top layer of skin finished. Saw dr's nurse & she wasn't sure what it was & that probably wasn't H/F/M

Definitely does not look cottage cheesy as oral thrush is supposed to. Although his tongue is coated in white this morning ( he was permanently attached to my @ last night though so it could be a build up of milk)

He's been given an antibotic for H/F/M & a mouth drop stuff for thrush. He had a temp last night that I could not get down. It was only low grade which could indicate the H/F/M but the dr couldn't conclusively say.

Does anyone have experience in random mouth "illnesses" for want of a better word.

Hi Kel

Sounds similar to what my oldest son had about 6 months ago. Started off with the doctor saying it was coldsores, but then turned into thrush as well. Was so bad he wouldn't take bottle or eat anything but really mushy weetbix as it hurt him. He woke up every 3 hours for one night as he was hungry but wouldn't eat or drink. Doctor gave us the thrush drops and some stuff for the cold sores and it worked a treat and really quickly. Was gone in about 2 to 3 days.

Hope that helps a little!

Amanda

Thanks!

I'm thinking it's thrush after looking in his mouth before.

Which leads me to: How will I know if I get thrush of the nips?

It will feel like pins stabbed into your nips. At least thats how it felt early on..dont know if it would be different when they are older.

Your symptoms do sound like Tom right now although its healing really fast. I hope its not coldsores DH and I are lucky enough not to get them, it would suck for him to have to go through them.

so all the time Nikki or just when they are feeding?

Cause I don't think I've got that, I have had this weird sensation like my @ is empty & he's sucking it inside out....

dunno sorry. they thought I had it when Tom was a newborn but I dont think I did....I used the stuff on them so he could suck it off...it was like a sugary gel stuff and I put a spoonful on my nipples and then he sucked it off when he fed (man thats a line to come up in a google search). I cant really remember too much what it felt like.

James is doing a weird thing when he feeds now and he almosts sucks with his teeth.
