Is there such a thing as a rear facing car seat that doesn't need a hook/bolt thingy. DD is too big for a capsule. I am going away and the car I will be using doesn't have the bolt thingy and it would not be appropriate to put one in.

Brio Zento, it anchors to the seat in front of it.

Great, thank you (I thought it might have been a stupid question as didnt think they existed).
I see 'baby on the move have both of them', so have enquired.
fressia- can you explain what you mean by it anchoring to the front seat?
Mamma2N- does a seat belt simply go around it?

Neither of our seats (a Cosco and an Evenflo) anchored in when they were in the rear facing position, only in the forward facing position. When they are rearfacing they are held in by the seatbelt

Here is a review on them with pictures although it's kind of hard to see what I mean. It's pretty long too. http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=14832&KW=brio - Brio Review
Basically the carseat has 2 straps which go forward and attach to the base of the seat in front of it where it is bolted to the floor. It's kind of hard to explain but really easy to do when you see it done.
